| LiL Moe is Sick My dear LiL Moe came down sick lastnight, I was up all through the night with him, and to this min have had NO sleep! I think he may have gotten ahold of something outside, not sure though, as he is tied on an overhead run line, I have puppy proofed every inch he can reach, but maybe one of the bigger dogs brought him a branch or something, they do share with him like that. He was a bit warm lastnight, and had dioreah and throwing up his meal. The dioreah was so bad you woulda thought he had taken a whole bottle of the castor oil. This is why I had to stay up with him, so that he was in the right place at the right time, I think he has had the most baths he ever has in hs life, due to mess. It's 2:30 pm here in the UK and finally he seems to of settled, and looks like he is wanting to NAP, so I think I will join him, as I have been up since 8a.m. Thursday! I will keep all up to date.

| I hope little Moe is feeling better soon. Watch out for dehydration with all the diarhea. It is my understanding that giardia is fairly easy to catch from something as simple as standing water, or wet grass. Maybe a stool sample would be a good idea?

| How is little Moe? Hopefully getting better. I just had 2 one-year-olds go through the same thing. I was able to take care of them myself but would have gone to the vet in a heart-beat if I thought they needed it. Mine acted perfectly normal the entire time they were sick....never got lathargic or anything. It would be a whole different story if they seemed run down or tired. I mixed an 8 ounce glass of water with 3/4 tsp of salt and 3/4 tsp of sugar. Then I boiled rice and boneless/skinless chicken breast. Broke the chicken into very small pieces and mixed with the rice. Then I mixed just a bit of the water mixture in a tiny bowl with a small amount of the rice and chicken. This cleared the runs up in no time. I didn't feed any kibble for 3 days...just the rice, chicken and water mixture. I also substituted with Nutrical. Hope this helps! PS....my Mom had 2 dogs get the same thing and so did my mother-in-law. Must have been something going around. |

| Update Moe is doing much better, I think he has run dry on the toileting end of things and now is doing allot of sleeping, I am keeping water in him, and was told not to feed for 24 hours and see if it helps with the dioreah.I finally got a 3 hour nap and feel quite refreshed...LOL I am going to need it as Monday I am going to be a mess! My first Dog Teddy, he is my rescue, and the softest , most gentle dog you could ever meet, I call him my Hippi dog as his is just so laid back, well he is going in for surgery monday to remove and biopsi a growth he has.Last year when Sassy went in to be spayed I was so worried and upset, that i put myself to bed until the vets rang to say all was ok......this was pre Moe and at that time she was the spark of life in the house, so her being gone overnight made the whole mood in our house dive, it just felt wrong without her.Sorry to babble, but if you read my other threads you will know the internet is my only social interaction these days...LOL Cheers for the concern over Moe, I think now thinking back to yesterday, it must be a touch of food poisoning, I caught him in the trash, and I had just cleaned old food out of the fridge...silly me, shoulda thought that would be it.

| They do say 24 hours without food....but with them being soooo small, it worries me. If he is sleeping a lot, PLEASE put him in a standing position and make sure he isn't "wobbly". If he is, he needs to see a vet asap. I did go 12 hours without feeding, but that was as far as I was willing to go. Feeding them is feeding the virus though. I know you will do what is best for your little guy and I look forward to the post where you say that he is 100% back to normal. |

| Thanks Thanks to everyone for thier support, I think Moe will be seeing the vet, the source of his illness, I think has shown it's head, he has a yellow greeny discharge coming from his boy parts...doesn't look pleasant.I am wondering how he got it, could it be his belly band?? I change his pad constantly, even one lil drop of wet and I change it, I clean the area and dab dry, I wash the belly band every night before bed and set it out to dry for the next day...so I don't know if it could be the belly band causing this but in any sense he does need seen.He is no longer acting sick, lots of LiL Moe energy, just this discharge....he never has been very good about licking himself clean there or in his behind, Teddy ussually ends up doing it for him...what a great adopted fur daddy he is to Moe!

| Glad he's feeling better. Hopefully for the discharge it's nothing serious and antibiotics will clear it up. |
