Thank you all for your support. I am very upset. I am questioning accepting another dog from them too. I am so scared that it will have problems. I also feel so uncomfortable with the breeder now, besides the anger I feel that is normal to have when one close to you passes, but also for them, because they shipped him under 2 pounds. I am no expert in that weight but know that they have health risks. I am dumfounded that anyone experienced in breeding would have done such a thing. But I cannot go back and change the past. The thing is I feel so shallow for even thinking about the financial part of this whole thing. We are all so devistated and need answers. The breeder made me feel like I didn't handle him properly and that I wanted a tiny little guy like him from the beginning. I can tell you that I, with the help of my parents, and my fiance gave that little man unconditional attention and 24 hour around the clock care. When he told me that everyone he's sent a smaller dog to is happy with the result, I couldn't believe it. Also he mentioned that the only puppy losses he's had is on the East Coast in NYC. How horrible? If I were him, I would never ship such a small and young dog again after this experience. I mean, I wouldn't turn a living creature down, but I certainly didn't ask for his size. I asked for bigger. I said I have standard sized yorkies at my parents' home one is 14 yrs old at 11 pounds and one is 2 years old at close to 20 pounds (yes deisel yorkie, no fat just muscle!) Our Yorkie Chips passed 2 yrs ago at 15.5 years at about 11 pounds. He was amazing as well and my little man BBear is now with him. How could anyone be so ill mannered to make a customer feel like it is their fault. I must say though that the wife of the husband/wife team was much more understanding and compassionate, as you know from my conversation that I had with her the night before my little guy passed. She could hear the pain in my voice. I am just scared to go through this again.

So, here's my question: If the contract doesn't mention anything about getting my money back, and just says that they'll provide a replacement doggie, what can I do? Is it prudent for me to accept the dog only under full agreement that he is going to be what I wanted and healthier and older and more stable? On top of that do you think it ok for me to also send a letter stating that B man was unfit for purchase to pay for my bills from the first week of his time with us? What do you all think? How horrible it feels to have to think about money at a time like this.

No, you are not being horrible because you are thinking about costs right now. This was an unexpected and terrible loss. I can only say again how sad I am to hear of your loss and if I can do anything on my end, you need only ask...

OH NO...I'm so sorry to hear he didn't make it....You have my thoughts and prayers. you must be just devestated.

On your breeder...If your contract says 'replacement puppy' - then I would just try to work it out with them - most of the time you won't see your money again - and some really bad breeders don't even replace a puppy. So try to work with them and keep your fingers crossed they honor their contract....

I don't know what else to tell you at this point since you are already out the money & the poor little puppy. I know another puppy won't replace that little doll you lost ....but you can at least try again since you do have the contract.

As far as his size, questionable age and shipping - unethical breeders will ship anywhere for a buck.... and if one is shipping very tiny YOUNG puppies - I really doubt they care that much about what happens to him.

I've heard the airlines are full of tiny puppies being shipped these days - it's very common - but your little guy didn't sound old enough or strong enough for that kind of trip....and THAT is sad.

I'm so sorry your little one lost his battle. How sad. It isn't your fault that the breeder sent a dog too little to travel!! (I'm with Villette in thinking that perhaps he was younger than the breeder stated).

I get so angry at breeders like that who are so uncaring toward their little ones!! Any good breeder with a conscience would treat their puppies as if they were their own children. I'd be concerned too, about receiving a second pup from her. Does she have any type of health guarantee?

I'm in full agreement and think that if there were any way to get your money back, that would be the route I would take. If not, make sure you take your new pup to the vet ASAP to have him/her fully examined.

So sorry you had to go through this. I hope that your next experience is a happier one!

Thank you again everyone for everything and all the kind words. By the way all your dogs are beautiful...its amazing how wonderful the yorkie is and how much love they bring to our lives. I can only hope that these people will do the right thing. Thank you again. My fiance and I went to church today and prayed that God brings little Bbear together with my Chips that passed 2yrs ago. Chips will definitely show him the ropes...and they're both kissers!

Oh Maggie- we are so sorry for your loss. Sometimes there are just no answers only more questions. I do hope the new puppy will help ease you through and be much healthier and you can bond and have fun. I look forward to hearing about your new little one. Little man will surely be watching over you all.

Maggie, I know how you feel and the pain in your heart as I lost one of my kids at 10 months of age. She was being spayed and died under anesthesia-so unexpectedly. I breed and I have not one good word to say about so-called breeders who send puppies too fragile to buyers. This is a sad experience that we all have heard so much about.
I would try to find out if there is a lemon law in he state where he was bred OR in your state. I agree that I, too, would be leery of another puppy from that breeder. there are sites on line where you can register the name of the breeder and check to see if anybody else had the same problem with them and how it was resolved. The pic of your boy looks familiar.....was he on Puppyfind? If so, there is a site to read and post about problems with scams and such.

I am so sorry to hear about you little one. Have you discussed with the breeder about giving you a refund, if it is possible I'm sure you'd have no trouble finding a breeder in the area that you can go yourself to pick up. Its so sad that there are breeders out there that only care about the money not the welfare of the puppies.
