You know when I was giving Tiger yogurt or cottage cheese, I can feel his tummy to be chunky or really solid too . . .I have read through another thread that they are really good for our yorkies . . . so I will definitely give it to him again.

If you try and do a search, Merrick food is supposed to be really good. Everything is real food( the meats are in chunks as well as the veggies and fruits) and it has so many varieties that I bought 6 different kinds. Tiger really loves it, except for the bufallo beef

. I don't think that is what is causing him to have diahrea though because it is all natural. He is used to having fresh fruits added to his meals and never had a problem . . . but I would rather he has a problem with the Merrick food than something more serious, if you know what I mean!

When i tried switching mine over to Merricks wet cali ended up with the same symptoms but it was about 5 days into switching and she wasn't completely switched. I took her to the Er vet and they IV'd her and gave me meds for worms even though she didn't have them and an antibiotic. A week later my pom had the same thing so i don't really know what caused it but they both recovered quickly. Good luck it's always better to take them in.

Oh Patti, I would be happy if Tiger has whatever your babies had as I know it is nothing serious . . . did you stop giving them Merrick? I really like that brand of food and so does Tiger so I hope he can continue eating those. But I definitely will add yogurt/cottage cheese again into his meals . . that kinda sounds gross but if Tiger will eat it so be it . . .

Just wanted to let everyone know that Tiger is in very excellent health and no parasites showed on the stool sample

His vet thinks that something in the Merrick food just got him upset so he is being put on a temporary bland diet for 3 full days and then gradually add back his food again. In addition, he prescribed an antiobiotic. The mucous with a smear/tint of red is caused by inflamation on his colon because of his diahrea, nothing else.

Since Tiger got a thorough check-up he is being scheduled for tooth extraction in 2 weeks as he showed me a few of his teeth that are loose and if they don't come off in the next couple of weeks needs to be pulled. I also had them administer some preventive medicine for ticks and fleas as I plan to walk tiger in the park soon . . .

I am so happy nothing is wrong with him . . . . thank you so much everyone for being there for me and Tiger!

I know what you mean . . we try to give them the best food but if their system rejects it, what can we do . . Damn, I bought a whole case of Merricks. Of course, I am not about to throw in the towel yet. Will give it one more chance . . but this time I am hoping the addition of cottage cheese or yogurt will help his sensitive tummy to NOT be too sensitive.

I will know in a few weeks as for now . . .he's off to some bland food

for a few days.

What did you end up doing with the rest of the Merrick you purchased?

Oh Des I am so happy that Tiger is ok. I didn't see this thread until just now so I apologize for not being more attentive earlier. I was so worried reading through the threads but now know your little Tiger is ok.

How wonderful to hear the GREAT news!!!! I'd give him a little longer for those teeth to come out on their own since they are already loose. They have to put them under to extract them. You still have like a month or two before you need to be concerned. You may want to ask others or research this first.
