I adopted a 11 yr old yorkie that has luxating patellar, but she has other slew of problems, but I can tell you for being 11 she runs after rabbits always outside running around and barking at vultures.. she is certainly something else, I did buy a yucca extract from 1-800-petmeds you can try it, its not expensive and I think it helps her, her leg doesn't seem to bother her here is the link Yucca Intensive (Azmira): Supplement For Dogs and Cats - 1800PetMeds

What is the name of the doctor who did the knees on your yorkie in Texas. My yorkies is approximately 9 years old and has both knees at LP. One is stage 4 and one is between stage 3-4. Arizona.

Buffy BUFFY- My 13 year old yORKIE does much better with her knees- since we moved to a home with all one floor...I did not opt for the operation, and now she is way too old for it- I won't chance it..... I wish I would have brushed her teeth, the groomer does it but now , like our last yorkie who had to have all her teeth removed, I should have known better...TTHE vET IS AFTER ME CONSTANTLY TO HAVE bUFFY's out now...I am afraid of the anesthetic......

He is a good one for a second opinion. He will not ever recommend surgery unless it is really needed! Here is the link to the hospital: Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists And here are links to a couple of articles he has written for use on the Yorkie Haven Rescue website: Yorkie Haven Rescue - Patellar Luxation Info Yorkie Haven Rescue - Cranial Cruciate Ligament Tear Info

2 luxating patellas (3+grade) in my 8 month old Hi. I have an 8 month old yorkie, Phoebe, who has 2 laxating patellas. We were referred to a surgeon from our family vet. We saw the surgeon yesterday. She classified Phoebes patellas each as a grade 3+ on a scale of 1-4, 4 being the worst. She recommended having both knees done. I am just so leary of doing the surgery. I guess, I am looking to see if there are people who have had a 3+ and not fixed them? If so, does it worse quickly or do they do relatively ok? Also, if you are a parent of a yorkie who did both legs at one time, how did that go? Success rate? It is just so much to take in..... Thank you for any advice and suggestions. I really appreciate it. Sincerely, The mom of a collie, 2 yorkies, a cat & 6 chicks

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I think with the small breeds it might be ok to do both at once. They would be easy to assist in rising from a laying position and to assist if needed in urinatin or defectating.
