My daughter just got a yorkie puppy too and is sick. Coughing, went to vet 3 x's on an antibiotic, thought she was clearing up and now is coughing worse and we are going back to vets AGAIN! I have 3 yorkies and hae never experienced this, but this little one is very sick. My daughter takes her to her apartment, her boyfriends, and my house, and I think it's too much shifting around. She was almost cleared up at my house, and now is sick again. She also had a parasite. Poor thing. She is eating and drinking ok, eating Canidae Life stages food. I'll keep in touch after vet visit today. If you want to call me, I'll give you my number.

| Oh you poor thing! Don't feel like you are being judged. Sometimes we just get overwhelmed with the terrible things that happen to pups that come from these stores. It's very sad. But that is over now, and we need to focus on getting him better. I have never had any experience with the kennel cough. ButI am sure there are people on here that are. Good luck with getting him better! And I will keep him in my prayers! God Bless

I had a yorkie that in his later years always coughed and choked when he drank on his own. At first we started giving him water with a gerbil like watering bottle with the ball at the tip. Whenever he licked he would get a bit of water. I just put a little nutrical on it one time and once he discovered that, he drank from that quite easily. Maybe you can do that until your little one gets over what ever it is that's going on. Another thing that worked was to slowly give water with a syringe. Good luck to you and your baby!

How did you set up the gerbil thing? I didn't think it would be good in/on his crate. The vet tech told me it's sometimes hard to switch a puppy raised on the gerbil bottle to drink from a dish. Thanks for the info

To start with I would do it by hand. i.e. just hold the puppy and hold the bottle up to it to drink. As he got used to it, I just took a cookie cooling rack and hung it on a wall and used the holder that came with the gerbil bottle. It was amazing how fast he caught on and knew where it was. Then my other yorkie discovered it and drank from it also. I think they like it because the water stays fresher. The important thing is it really helped the coughing and choking. Let me know if you try it, and if it works.
