| Yorkie not wanting to eat his food Hi I am a first time yorkie owner and currently he is 7 months old (officially tomorrow) for the past few weeks we have been struggling to get him to eat. He gets excited when we say the word eat but as soon as we put the food in his bowl he walks away. (Royal Canin yorkie puppy food) It got better where he would eat the food out of our hands, but when he eats a pebble it just falls out of his mouth, we suspected teething but his stomach also made strange sounds yesterday so we took him to the vet. the vet suspects it's a spastic colon and gave him a buscopan injection and put him on flygal for ten days. Have any of you experienced this with your yorkies before? Any advice welcome |

| Letting it fall out of his mouth like that indicates a dental oo some other mouth issue. I seriously doubt it is a colon issue.....but cannot hurt to rule it out. Hope you can get to the bottom of it soon.

I bet he's a sweetie! It's at about this time that the structure of his bite will be obvious to the more-or-less trained eye. A simple vet check will give you a lot of comfort on this issue. As well, it will uncover any common dental issues that could have developed. When my later senior was a bit older than your guy but still a sweet young thing, our vet advised us on which kibble to feed--he picked the kibble based on the size and structure of her bite. Thank you for lovin' your little guy. P.S. I know my later senior preferred to have her kibble served on a small dish--she struggled if it was served in a bowl. | |

| Let me add this: if your vet cannot see anything and doesn't do dental x-rays I would suggest you find a vet that does Often things are going on with teeth that cannot be seen by the naked eye.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | On the stomach gurgling, does it come and go a bit..? Does he do stomach pain posturing like putting his front legs down, leaving his butt up in the air? And has he had any infections or parasites as a puppy - like giardia etc...?
