YorkieTalk Newbie! | Jax - heavy breathing/gagging and coughing Hello everyone, my Jax has been gagging and has heavy breathing all of a sudden. Has anyone else experienced this with their babies? Can someone tell me what this may be? I recorded him a moment ago hoping I could share his videos. Please help! It’s 3:20AM so I’m really concerned. I’m currently out of state (Massachusetts) visiting my daughter. Wondering if I should drive back to NJ to take him to the vet early in the morning. |

| There's no vet ER in Mass.? I can't help out with gagging and heavy breathing, none of my babies ever went through something like that. Is it possible he found something on the floor and ate it, now gagging to get it up, he could be choking on something with the heavy breathing. I would get him to a vet ER NOW, not drive back to NJ to your vet, if he's choking on something he could be dead by time you get back to Jersey.

| If you are in the Boston area, I would highly recommend Tufts University Emergency Veterinary Clinic, as Matese listed above. Here is a link to their webpage: 24-Hour Pet Emergencies, Walpole, MA | New England Veterinary Critical Care . The level of care from vet school hospitals is usually unsurpassed in my experience. Also, if you call them and describe the symptoms, they can help you decide whether to bring your dog in. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How is this baby...??!! With gagging and ANYTIME there is an airway issue - you should get to a Vet and/or an ER Vet asap.
