| Wooden baby gate fell on my 1 pound puppy! Hi! I tried to post this earlier but realized it never went though. I am a new mommy of a 10 week old biewer yorkie & I love him so much. He is only 1.25 pounds & a few hours ago the wooden baby gate used to keep him in my living room fell on him! He let out a loud yelp when it landed on him, luckily I was there to immediately lift it off him and I checked him for external injuries and did not appear to be any. When I put him down he just wanted to hide behind me & be picked up. He was shaking but other than that he appeared to be fine, just shook up. He eventually calmed down and it happened close to his bedtime so after cuddling him for awhile I put him in his crate. I just checked on him & let him out to pee and he appeared to be fine, his pee looked normal, he was walking normal & we even went over a few commands before I put him back in his crate. Do you think I should take him to the vet to be checked out even though he seems fine? He is my first dog so not sure what to do, plus it's the middle of the night. |

| Gosh, that's a hard call. If you have an emergency vet close by you could go there just to be safe. My guess is he is fine since you said he is acting ok. Wish I could be more help.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | He is probably okay. Check him out first thing in the morning. If things aren't perfect, go to the vet. I'm concerned why your breeder let you have him at 10 weeks when he is so tiny. My puppies don't leave until they are at least 12 weeks. |

| Baby gate accident Poor baby, I bet he was shaken up, especially being so small. Hope he is ok today. Perhaps no update due to post moderation? It was the OPs first post. I too wonder why the pup was taken home at only 10 weeks, and so tiny. |

| I meant nothing new about breeders selling yorkies so young and tiny.

| Baby gate OK. Sorry I misinterpreted your words. I did feel that we were not getting updates recently, but just my thoughts. |

| That is also nothing new. You are correct. By the way you put baby gate as a subject I assumed you meant that it was nothing new that baby gates fell on puppies.

| Wow, I hope not that pups are commonly being hurt by falling baby gates!! I used it as the title as used by the OP. |

| So sorry for the late update, I didn't realize I had gotten replies & the new puppy has been keeping me very busy, lol. He is ok, thank you all! As for him being so young, I am a first time puppy owner so I did not realize he was too young to be brought home, I have heard conflicting things regarding that & his breeder said they were ready at 8 weeks, though I got him at 9 1/2 weeks. He just turned 12 weeks on friday and is doing great. He is no longer scared of the puppy gate either, brave little guy. I have to watch him closely as he thinks he is bigger than what he is, lol |
