| Mickey has a lump on his back or upper hip. It is about the size of a quarter and rather soft and spongy to feel. I am worried about what it is. I didn't find it until I trimmed the hair off his back. Now I can feel it and almost see it . Have any of you had a growth like this on your babies? I am taking him to the vet tomorrow morning but am really worried about him. Thanks for any help you can give me.

| It could be a hematoma or just a cyst, and neither are serious. I hope you get great results from the vet.

| It is probably nothing much...at least I hope not. Did he have any shots lately? Sometimes the rabies injection will do that....

| He had his booster shot and 3 yr. Rabies shot in October. Thank you both for your reassurances.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Could just be a benign cyst of some sort, not uncommon in doggies at all. Also like Linda said, due to a shot.

| I am sure it was from them....sounds like probably rabies. I bet if you call your vet it is located where it was given. Just ask them where...they document that on the chart.

| Good luck! Goodness I was so worried when I found a lump on Chibi. It is a soft symmetrical lump which turned out to be a fatty tumor, which is benign. Good luck with your vet visit!

| Well, it was where they gave him his rabies shot. I am so relieved. Thank you all for your good advice and sharing with me. I am always a wreck when he isn't just perfect, since my Dudley died. It has been a year and 1/2 but I just don't want to lose another.
