| Pippa Grace is pooping puddles of blood! help! My 3lb, 3yo yorkie was fine Friday. Didn't eat her dinner last evening, but not totally out of the norm for her and she didn't act like she didn't feel well. I was out most of the day, but when I returned at 9pm, found 3 puddles of thick, dark red mucus consistency blood in the floor. Two were about the size of a soft ball, the other was a line. Hubby said she acted fine through the day, but he had an accident so is stuck on the couch and she's been lazy, laying with him. Definite evidence that the blood came from her bottom. No evidence of worms. I have no access to 24 hr vet, so it will be 7am before I can take her in. Any advice?? Last edited by Sdowns8302; 12-06-2015 at 09:52 PM. |

| I would be trying to find a 24 hour vet in a neighboring town/city. 3lbs is tiny and things can go south quick! My Jingle had pancreatitis a few years back and bloody stools was the symptom. This can be fatal, I would be on google looking for a vet right now even if I had to drive to a different town.

| How do you not have access to a 24 hr vet? Not in the city? I hope she holds out till morning if you can't get to one tonight. At three pounds, she doesn't have much reserves so to speak. And bloody mucus the size of a soft ball is alarming. I see you are offline, hopefully you're on the way to the vet. Bright red blood means bleeding in the lower (large) intestine, and dark red blood mean bleeding higher up in the small intestine, with it having some time to dry. If it's dark, it could very well mean a tear in the stomach or intestine

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I would get this little one to an Emergency vet ASAP -- DRIVE to get to one!!! This could be life threatening and waiting like you are could be the difference btwn her making it or not. If she is the priority, get in the car!

| Take dog to the vet My dog King had the same issue when we first bought him so we took him to the vet and she said that he had an upset stomach and gave us some pills and drops to give to him and she told us not to feed him for 24 hours just give him plenty of water and she also gave us a dietary dog food supper for him to start the next day and he has been doing good I haven't seen anymore blood in his bikes |

| I am hoping this baby is at the vet..bloody stool is very serious. It was the first sign of the illness that took our senior dog's life this summer. |
