![]() help! my 4 month old yorkie was sick this morning, he threw up and all he has done is sleep all day.I called the vet and he said take away his food and give him a tea spoon of pepto bismol...and a teaspon of water later. did both and he is still just laying around (usually he is running alll around the house). he was just sleeping on my lap and he is breathing kinda funny (i am pretty sure they are shorter breathes than usual) and i just wanted to know what i should do...any advicee?

| ![]() If you think his breathing is being effected, I would definately take him to the vet asap. I would also keep a bowl of water down for him and try to force him to drink. It seems odd to me that your vet told you to put his water up (i understand putting his food up) but not water, just because they can get dehidrated very quickly. Also try putting down some plain boiled chicken and white rice (it should calm his tummy and put something in his stomach). Has he only thrown up once today? and does he have diareah? I hope he feels better!

![]() I think I am with everyone else here...time for a trip to the vet. You can get alot of 'could be this' and 'sounds like that' here, but you will never know until you have him check out. Better safe than sorry. ![]() ![]()

![]() I would also take him to the vet immediately with a fesh stool sample and a history of the last couple days as far as anything unusual he may have eaten or a treat he may have had...has he had greenies or rawhides or pigs ears or anything not 100% digestible? Any people food? Grapes, ham, chocolate, beef, etc? This will help the vet with his examination.I hope he is ack to feeling good real soon. Let us know.

![]() Ollies Mom - How is your puppy doing? Hopefully, he's doing better and you won't need to go to the vet. Throwing up - my 5-month old has thrown up a couple times - I think both times were from trying to eat 5 minutes worth of food in 20 seconds. He is a pig! And/or maybe something just didn't settle right with him. And - as far as sleeping - my Yorkie still has times when he sleeps for hours or almost all day. He's just a pup - and even grown dogs can sleep a lot. I wouldn't especially worry about his throwing up or sleeping a lot today. His breathing might indicate a problem. But, because you are concerned, you might just be paying more than your usual attention to his breathing. How is he doing in this regard? It is the same - better or worse? I am hoping that after a good nap, your pup will be up and be his usual self. Keep in touch and let us know how he's doing. Carol Jean

![]() Thank you all so much for your help! I took him immediately to the puppy er, and they said that he has pnemonia. he is really sick, and is being kept over there overnight. the doc said that he had kennel cough (which he was treated for) but it got worse and turned into pnemonia. i am sooo upset and terrified. i will get a phone call in the morning about his condition. i will certainly keep you guys updated to how my baby is doing!

![]() Im so glad you took him to the vet when you did. Im glad that he is starting to feel better. Do you have any one that can come and check on him while your at work tomorrow? If not I would make sure he is left out fresh water and is in a nice warm spot so he can rest.
