| Stye in Eye? Dixie has a slightly swollen and red eyelid. It reminds me of when I have had a stye around my eye. I did a search on YT and found things from 2011 about patting with a warm wet wash cloth or read about someone's Yorkie having an infected eyelash. Just wondering if anyone else has had a pet have something like this? I could not get a vet appointment yesterday, so she is going in at 8:15 today. I'll update later.

| Poor Dixie! Max has had a couple of styes along with other eye problems. His styes were on the eyelid and rim of the eye and only required warm compresses to heal. They were small and had a discernible bump, like a pimple. Sometimes the stye can be so enlarged that it is painful or rubs against the eyeball. That is when meds are helpful to speed healing and protect the eyeball from injury. The swelling and redness can also be a sign of uveitis, inflammation, caused by a variety of things. That is why it is always best to see the doctor to get an accurate diagnosis and meds. Best wishes for sweet Dixie. Looking forward to your update.

| Will be eager to hear how the vet visit goes. Stys can be uncomfortable sometimes.

| Thanks, friends, for your replies. The swelling was down when I took her to the vet. Go figure. But, it was still red. My vet believes Dixie has some type of abrasion maybe from running into something. He asked me if she plays rough with my other girls and had to admit that my two others are getting older and do not play much. But Dixie plays rough by herself with toys, ever since she learned how to play (puppy mill girl originally). He gave me something called Neo Poly Dex ointment to put on her eye lid 2 or 3 times a day, just in case. This is a case of better safe than sorry.

| Happy to hear the swelling is going down already. Isn't funny about vet appts? Even happens to me with ER trips. I have learned that these little ones can scratch their eyes a million different ways. Sticking their faces in grass can do it. Wishing Miss Dixie a speedy recovery.
