But when people give up their money and there worries and time to help a pup and then find out that there own owners didn't do everything to to keep her safe it's very upsetting. We are at the vet now. She got a good report. The puppies are with the vet right now. I know y'all would not be this upset if you did not care about Piper. So I will keep you posted on her and the puppies I wanted. Thank you all for the good and the bad comments. I have read every one of them. This is why I still come here. Good or bad. It's all about the babies

Until you do BATs on Piper, I doubt you will really know if this pregnancy affected her liver...and even then it would not be certain. I hope you get her spayed and a biopsy of her liver done as soon as it is possible.

It is IMO incumbent upon you to try as best you can to place puppies with as clear a health status as possible in future homes. Liver shunt surgery is very expensive $3K or so - not to mention Luxating Patella and ACL surgeries.


At the minimum you should be strongly advising your puppy buyers to immediately secure pet insurance which covers genetic defects.


I am sorry Piper had to go through this. Your apology sounded sincere - but for me I still don't know how that accident could have happened. You should have been told that belly bands and diapers are useless in preventing mating......


All this is a grave lesson for you and I am sorry to repeat some things already said - but just to make it clear to future readers how diligent and what the safeguards you need to take are.
