So wonderful to hear Couver is doing so much better!! :) |
I am very happy to hear Couver is doing well! |
Hopefully it was just a rough case of gastroenteritis secondary to a bug or something he ate and nothing bad. Praying for good news after re-testing! |
Wow Michelle! I have been Mia lately, only popping in now and again through thread updates that show up in my email and I was shocked and worried to see little couver's name come up with a title like that! I just read every single page and every single post and I am so sorry to hear what you and your little man have been going through :( when I heard the symptom description I immediately thought giardia- and then was not surprised that it isn't show up in the labs because I myself had it for a month and the drs couldn't detect it- I was miserable! Then When I heard panacure it sounded like they were erring on the side of caution and treating your buddy for that anyway- I am so sorry to hear it sounds like he may have had a nasty reaction to the medication! I hope couver's protein levels are back up where they should be and that cookies unfortunate illness and cancer can be ruled out for your guy and this whole episode be a bad gastrointestinal memory of the past! I hope your man is recovering and that you are too and the vet says yup- Ibs! And it's over, whew.... Hugs from us |
Thanks for checking in on Couver! He is still doing great and we are just finishing up the suculfrate. He has a check up next week and we will do bloodwork again to check his protein levels. I cannot believe that he got so sick. It is a helpless feeling not knowing what is wrong and having him feeling so sick... Thankfully he is back to his normal self, and we are hoping to get a diagnosis of the issue. |
Great news. |
Good news!! |
So Couver had his blood work done again last night. The vet was able to call me with the results and she said that all of his protein levels are back within normal ranges. I will get a chance to chat with her more today when I pick the results up, but this is promising news!! |
That is fantastic, so happy to hear this good news. |
Great news!!!! Happy Dancing! So does the vet think it was a gastroenteritis from a bug or something he ate or what was that? |
1 Attachment(s) So I got home from work today and found two small piles of vomit. I am assuming it was Couver. They were just liquid, so I could not determine for sure if it was him, Khloe or the kitties. Here are his blood work levels. A couple levels are elevated, but the protein and albumin are within normal ranges: Albumin (ALB) 2.8 (Healthy range- 2.3-4.0) Alkaline Phosphate (ALKP) 64.0 (23-212) ALT/SGPT (ALT) 73.0 (10.0-100) Amylase (AMYL) 495.0 (500-1,500) Calcium (CA) 10.3 (7.9-12) Cholesterol (CHOL) 148 (110-320) Creatinine (CREA) 0.7 (0.5-1.8) Glucose (GLU) 96.0 (74-143) Phosphorous (PHOS) 3.1 (2.5-6.8) Bilirubin, Total (TBIL) 0.1 (0.0-0.9) Protein, Total (TP) 6.2 (5.2-8.2) BUN 30.0 (7.0-27.0) Globulin (GLOB) 3.4 (2.5-2.5) I attached his blood work from a couple weeks ago to compare his levels. I remember a while ago Couver had blood work done and his BUN levels were off, I am off to search for that thread to see what his levels were. |
His BUN levels were 31 in July and went back down to 26 in April, so I'm thinking those are normal levels for him. I guess I should look into why the amylase is so low. The vet was in the middle of surgery when I stopped in to pick up his blood work, so I'm hoping she can give me some answers tomorrow when I call. |
dog My spud Wolfe his food down and then threw up. I thought oh no but now I really cut his hills zd diet pieces small. I am praying for cover to be healthy |

Couver Hope it was not Couver who was sick. Did the vet get the Lipase value? Praying that Couver is ok. |
Hi, I so hope Couver is doing better. Please do let us know. |
Pancreatitis.....liver diseases .......I see those a lot and I wonder why???? It is something we are feeding our babies???? When I was little... we can't afford dry food.... we were feeding our dogs leftovers.... and they lived long and healthy lives.... just a thought ....:) |
Anakywdas. I wonder the same thing. Years ago dogs where only fed scraps of the table and they lived long lives. Makes me wonder too My last dog lived to be 16 and he ate food from the grocery store and table scraps. |
Oh no. I hope it wasn't Couver. Did you find out anything else after talking to the vet. Poor baby. |

I am very happy to hear that Couver's repeat labs returned great news. Hoping you haven't found any more vomit. So frustrating when you don't know who did what (I have that problem with just 2). |

Has Couver been doing any head rubbing, rubbing his body up against the furniture, acting lethargic, refusing food? |

That's good to hear. Maybe he just ate something he shouldn't have or got some type of infection in his GI system that caused gastroenteritis, which can seem to last forever. Hopefully he's done with this. |
dog I am hoping Couver is doing better. Prayers for his complete recovery. |
Elsy has problems with HGE especially if I have to be gone from her too long and she gets stressed (dad's just not the same). I keep her meds on hand just in case she starts to get sick after the vet has closed or on the weekend. I try to nip it in the bud and so far so good. No stays at the vet - only a few visits for an injection of cerenia and one when she needed sub-q fluids. (My vets are available 24/7 for emergency calls and always available to help me and would send me to the emergency clinic if they thought Elsy needed to go) She is on the rx low fat gastrointestinal food and in the last three weeks I've started giving her very small pieces of steamed carrots for a treat. No other food or treats. Maybe your vet will give you some meds to have on hand in case Couver has a problem after office hours. Hope he's feeling better. These little angels can get sick so fast. |
