| please help! my 9 week old puppy is sick :( hi everyone, firstly i got my lil puppy lola wednesday just gone, she is the smallest an she has been fine, not eating much but she was drinking fine by herself, yesterday she started being sick an had diarrhea, i took her to the breeders an they dewormed her, but she carried on being a bit sick, she wouldnt eat anything or drink either so i had to syringe her with water, few hours later she stopped being sick, but i was still worried so took her to the vet an she got checked an she was fine apart from a slight temperature an being a fussy puppy, the vet gave her a needle of antibiotic just incase she had a little infection, when i brought her home she picked up a bit an gave her some puppy milk what the vet told me to do, early hours in the morning she had a lot of diarrhea which was rly watery, but after that she started to eat some of her bakers puppy biscuits, but this morning she wont eat a thing or drink, she had a lil play for 5 mins but just wants to sleep, how long does it take for the antibiotics to work? im rly worried, and any advice on how to try to make her eat something would be good because im constantly worried, ( ive tried boiled chicken, eggs, pedigree puppy food) if anyone does have any advice please help thank you xx |

| You need to call her vet asap and let him/her know that your pup is still not doing well.! Continuous diarrhea and not eating is not good. These tiny pups can go downhill quickly.

YT 1000 Club Member | I've never had a yorkie that young but are they on solid food at 9 weeks? Please take her to a vet. If the vet you previously took her to said she was fine with those symptoms I would take her to a different one. I hope everything is ok. |

| Things can change hourly with these puppies. If your vet gave her meds and thoroughly checked her out, she probably was ok at that point. Now that the symptoms have greatly increased, you need to let the vet know that! I don't think the vet was saying that it was ok for a pup to have continuous diarrhea...and not eat anything. These puppies can dehydrate quickly, so please do not let this continue!!

| Besides taking her back to the vet ASAP to be checked on again, are you feeding her the same thing that the breeder was feeding her? If you're feeding her something different, she might be having a reaction to the new food. But most importantly, please take her back to the vet! |

| Yes, my Bella was on solid food at 8 weeks--Royal Canin for Yorkshire Terrier puppies, so that's not unusual. However, the OP's dog definitely needs to go back to the vet! |

She needs to go back to the vet asap if the diarrhea is this prevalent - that's not normal. She should be checked for giardia, for one thing. And note, giardia often hides under microscope, so it can actually take several tests to confirm it's actually there. A puppy could die from giardia, btw, due to the severe dehydration that will set in if untreated. ALWAYS err on the side of utmost caution when caring for a very young puppy bc they are so vulnerable and go down FAST....we've seen it here over and over, and many of us have experienced it firsthand - me included.
