| In Need Of Some Insight I have recently just got a teacup yorkiepoo, she's 6 years old and her name is Gidgit. She will not eat or drink. I don't know if it just the food or what. Her past owners fed her Purina. So I tried to stay somewhat close to that and got her Purina one. She was doing fine and eating very well for awhile but now she could care less. She will not drink anymore either. She lays around all day and doesn't care to be outside any longer then she has to. She seems very happy and loves to cuddle but is acting very lethargic. Please can someone help me out here? |

| That is hard to say, but if she truly isn't drinking much at all (Yorkies don't have a large water requirement) she needs to be seen immediately. Inappetance should not wait either.

| Sunday is 4 days away and much too long to wait for her to see a vet especially if she is lethargic. I would take her to the ER now if she has not improved since you first posted. These little ones can go downhill very fast. Try giving her some kyro syrup in case its hypoglycemia. Try boiling some chicken. How long has it been since she last ate and drank water?

| Sounds like your girl needs to see a vet ASAP. Tiny dogs don't have enough reserves to go days w/out eating or drinking. She will get dehydrated and then really bad things start to happen. She needs labwork and a general examination including neuro to try to find out what's going on with with your very small dog. Lethargy is anathema to most dogs so when you observe it in yours, it's time to act immediately.

| I agree with the others. If she was eating and drinking and suddenly has stopped there has to be a reason. Praying for her.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Sorry to tell you this, but when a dog stops eating and drinking - they truly DO need to be seen asap! I would get her in sooner than Sunday.
