Saying prayers for Piper and your family. I can't imagine what you're going through. I'm so very sorry this is happening to you and Piper. |
Praying for strength for all of you, and a turn around for precious Piper. |

The hard part now is that she looks better and so do the liver enzymes. So now if the glucose goes down again, it will probably be liver, but how do you know when the enzymes keep doing what they are doing? So very puzzling.... |
I am keeping Piper in my prayers that she will improve. Her "breeder" hasn't any idea of MVD or liver shunt?? It's like a shepherd breeder not knowing the shepherd breed can have hip dysplasia for crying out loud! Her breeder will be dealt with later....the most important is for dear Piper to pull through this. |

I am just heart broken with what is going on with Piper and many prayers continue for her. |
I've had a very hard time reading this thread and checking in on it because of some recent things I have gone through, its just too sad and I relate to Pipers MOM regarding when and what is "enough".....all I can tell you at some point you WILL know, its awful and gut wrenching and you will always second guess yourself....anyway... Yes this does indeed sound like some Toxic substance/food etc was introduced in to the pups system. I find it necessary to post about this here because it is important to OP and those who come along and read this thread. OP have you looked at the food and toxic substance list to see if there is anything that could have been given to Piper inadvertently? Several years back my MINI (7lbs.)was hospitalized in critical care and we almost lost her because I FED HER grapes, about 6-8 of them. I had no idea at that time how toxic they were to pets. Her liver was affected and she was up and down for a good week. I'm sorry I don't remember her numbers etc, I just remember the roller coaster it was. Once the vet was able to ascertain from making me go over every single thing I DID that day I then said and "thats it doc she was playing and everything just a couple hours before this started" what was she playing with? "she was chasing the grapes I threw to her like a maniac and having a great time"....GRAPES SHE YELLED AND RAN OUT OF THE ROOM(conversation not exact).....Mini survived but it was an awful, awful roller coaster and very expensive and a horrible, guilt ridden (to this day) experience.... |
I was hoping to read better news, again, I can only repeat my sorrow that others have expressed, lil Piper has been in my heart all day, and saying prayers for this sweet lil girl. I pray tomorrow she shows signs of improvement. She's such a lil fighter, bless her lil self. You stay strong when you visit her.Keeping all in my prayers, extra for lil Piper. (((hugs))) |
Prayers are being sent constantly, and many tears are flowing in between, and just hoping she will miraculously recover. Thinking of possible toxins, has anyone in your home (even a guest) taken a prescription pill out of a bottle and possibly dropped it? I have found Rx pills that had fallen under the bed or behind the nightstand in my guest room after mom and grandma came to visit, and now always alert visitors about that as well as warning not to let Xylitol gum (new or used) be accessible. |
Piper is still holding strong. Her blood sugar levels are back up. But thats with dextrose and the other stuff that for some reason my mind wont let me remember. Help Linda. Anyhow. They will run test at 8pm. If levels are still good. They will reduce dextrose 50%. Will retest at 2am. If they are holding. Dextrose will be taken taken completely understand that away. If her blood sugar stayz regulated on the other stuff. My brain does not want to work. So if it stays. We have a chance. If it doesn't this means she will not survive without a feeding tube. In which case we would have to let her go. It is going to be a long night and longer morning waiting to hear. So please keep praying. We really need them now. if it stays |
