OP I do hope that your little one feels better soon !!

Bottom line, I think the best policy is to avoid giving dosages. Many, many people do not understand them and often confuse ml and mg and teaspoons. Your dosage as stated by JMuedog was at the high end of the recommended dose which honestly is not where I start out when dosing but I also speak with my vet before I do most things. The OP has a 3 pound dog and might have missed your clarification about weight. As to your comments about going to the vet....many people do not do that as you well know.
My opinion is to avoid giving such advice because a wrong dosage of a medication could make a dog sick or kill it. I am just not into making those recommendations.

You can give him some Pepto Bismal work every time !!

I give mine 1.5 tsp (from an eye dropper/suction bulb) for every 5lbs. given every 6 hrs.

No mention of a vet here.

I agree w/Linda, IDThink we should not give out any OTC med dosages & what to give for what...it should be given & approved by the vet. Some drugs interfere w/other meds, if the pup is on any other medication. There's also cc measurement, that can get confusing, I think that's the same as ml. Sticky w/drug dosage info: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...g-dosages.html

I'd rather go the natural routs 1st, like giving pumpkin or sweet potato than drugs. If there's no improvement, off to the vet we go.

I've taken my vet several poopies that looked strange & he never charged me for just taking a look. Of course, they turned out to be nothing serious poopies. One time, their poopies had what looked like white eggs, I thought it was worm eggs & he told me it was rice...asked me if I gave them rice. I did! What a relief that was loll.

Mucus poop can mean that the intestines are inflamed & the lining being expelled. He could've eaten something & caused a tummy upset. I hope he'll feel better soon!

Thank you! I did notice your note that its for every 5 lbs and i wouldn't just give him anything g without my vet clearing it. He recommended 1 ml of liquid Imodium because of his tiny size. So far still eating and drinking water. Stool is getting a little firmer with small bouts of loose. Thank you for your warm thoughts!

I'm going to try giving him the one ML of Imodium that the vet recommended and if it doesn't work he's definitely going to the vet tomorrow. thanks for thewarm thoughts!

I understand everyone's worry about the dosage thing and I appreciated because I know he's very small I wouldn't just give him anything without clearing it with my vet but he gave me a recommendation which I'm going to try and take him to the vet tomorrow if it doesn't work. Thanks!

This is day three and these little ones can get pretty sick quickly. If he still has diarrhea, my suggestion is to take him to the vet today. I personally would not wait another day.
If you do not do that, at least check his gums to make sure they are moist. If they feel tacky to the touch, he is becoming dehydrated.

Whether or not to give out dosages online can be a touchy subject at times. At one time or another, I have given out dosages for antihistamines, pepto, benadryl, and pepcid (and maybe a few others). Most of these dosages are searchable online (and we have a dosage thread in ER), so I often figure why not just help them out by giving it...but it's a tough call, and not everyone agrees. I think when giving out dosages, one should always give the caveat to check with a vet. Also, I always triple check what dose I'm posting before posting it, bc I'm so paranoid about giving out the wrong info.

I do think it's especially important for EVERY owner to know what the proper dose for Benadryl is. Benadryl can literally save a life, so it's something I think we all should know by heart, or have posted in our house somewhere.

We were posting at the same time. I suppose if you did not give that med to him, you might want to try it. Just be sure to check his gums as I mentioned.

Good luck!

:thumbup::thumbup: Yup. They can go down SO quick when they have diarrhea.

Yes, always verify the proper dose first!

:) I am glad that your pup is doing better today but still keep a very close eye on him and if anything out of the ordinary happens, take him to your vet.

I agree.

I am so paranoid about giving my boys anything without a vet prescription, but the Benadryl is a must. Finally gave it to Teddy once and now I feel confident. Before that, I asked our vet's office about 4 times a year to confirm dosage and type, and then asked poor Crystal and Linda about 5 more times. :D

When I got my Leila, she had diarrhea and when I took her to the vet and did a fecal test she ended up having Giardia. The poop is really slimy with a drop of blood toward the end of the bowel movement. They treated her with antibiotics. That was such a pain in the butt. I was steam mopping my floors and washing everything she could have came in contact with because with 2 other dogs I was not going to take that chance of them getting it. Just recently she has another episode with diarrhea and again I took her to the vet and had the fecal test done which came out negative. It was such a relief! It turned out her anal glads were full and needed to be expressed. Those fecal test are not cheap at all!
