| Still no word from the vet yet on little Mojo, but it is still early...course, when you stay at home and are with your little one all day....it makes for a long day being without them. Regarding the gulping....I heard about that....I heard that you can put in ping-pong ball or baseball in their food dish and has they are trying to get around it, they slow their eating down....might try that. Thanks! Jenn and Mojo |

| I have some news and more to come I just heard from the vet..... They have had Mojo on IV fluids all day (again today). They gave him oral Bearamene (sp) - which gives a clearer x-ray. The first x-ray today, showed nothing, a closer look of the second x-ray showed maybe a possible blockage way back - she said that normally the blockage wouldn't be so far back. BUT they are doing a third x-ray to determine for sure or not. I am heading there now to get more info and to bring him home (depending). She said that if it is blockage, they will do surgery.....so for any of you who have had to have this done....please post with concerns, what to expect, etc. I will post more when we get home! Wish us luck! Also, asked about the "gas" that we seen on the x-ray yesterday....the attendent showed it to be his chest....well, come to find out, the x-ray was upside down and that was gas in his behind! crazy! I wondered how there cold be a gas pocket there. Jenn and Mojo |

| Good luck, Jenn. Hurry up and get home and give us another update on Mojo. Just curious, did you say that Mojo inhales his food, just wolfs it down like he is starving? There IS a very simple remedy for that. I have had great success with my boxer..... if you feed dry food -- put a clean roundish stone in his bowl on top of his kibble. He will have to push the stone around which will slow him down. I have also had success doing this with my Chizzie and with a variety of horses. |

| My little boy is happy and home (for now) Yippee!! My little boy is home and is feeling soooo much better.......BUT we are not out of the woods yet. The third x-ray (after the dye was given) showed a small mass, but it had moved from where it was during the second x-ray (he had three today: am, noon, pm). Anyway, she feels good about it saying that it appears to be moving, just slowly. It is in the large intestines close to the end now. Whatever it is (she said it is hopefully just a hard terd) looks to be normal....it is the size of the intestine (long and skinny) and the intestine is not bulging or out of shape (another good sign). They gave him Novox (Rimadyl) for pain (if needed), she said this might help him sleep better and then Metoclopramide to take 30 minutes before he eats twice a day (for upset stomache)....plus, he is still on his Amoxi drops. They left his IV cast on, in case we have another rough night. If so, we have to take him back for IV fluid in the morning. Also, if that is the case, they will go ahead and remove what is trying to come out...since they are certain that is the cause of everything. OR if he has a good night and passes a solid stool by the weekend, he will be fine...will just do one last x-ray to make sure. I hope it comes out on its own, but I just hate the thought of my little one going through more discomfort...course, now he is on so many meds, that that will help. My other concern is waiting too....I am sure that it will be fine and I don't want surgery (unless needed)....I guess with it being so close to the end, he will be fine...I just hope it can come out alright, whatever it is, without much strain on him! By a rough night.....I mean the shaking, bloody poo, etc. Lets hope and pray that we have a peaceful and restful night tonight! BUT he feels sooo much better!!! He is walking and running (as much as he can with that still in is leg), giving kisses and guess what?! He finally ate!!! He ate some of his hard food that I put alittle warm water on (the vet actually said that might help him from eating it so fast too) and he is drinking water too!! His poo is still runny (course two days with only IV fluid) and now it is bright yellow (looks like paint) from the x-ray dye. His behind has been close-shaved (he didn't like the wind hitting him awhile ago ) and it is lightly chapped, but the vet said we can use a little antiboitic ointment or diaper rash cream on it. Oh, they added to the list of tests the ran on him...today it was a Giardia SNAP test?? So one good thing, he is having lots of tests ran that will probably be of benefit later on. One last note.....my husband said we needed pet insurance!!! But I don't think we will go that route! I actually didn't think the bill was that bad, but every penny is worth it!!! Thank you all for your concerns and for putting up with my long postings! I will post again in the morning. Jenn and Hudsons Magical Mojo |

| Jenn - I worked in x-ray for more than 30 years and have seen hundreds of stomach and colon x-rays. Gas is just air. You almost never see an x-ray of anyone's intestines without seeing some air. If there is a blockage in the intestine - any air behind it will become loculated meaning that it can't move. This also shows up on an x-ray. But - the point is that the air - itself - is not a problem. To some extent, it is perfectly normal. And if there is a mass or blockage, this is what the problem is - not the air. Sounds like you have gone through a lot. And I think your vet (large animal vet) did a wonderful job. As I mentioned before - the problem your little guy is not uncommon with larger animals or eveb people. So - your vet was familiar with your pup's symptoms and what tests and procedures needed to be done. I'm glad that things have finally worked out (no pun intended)!!!!! Carol Jean |

| Update on Mojo Mojo made it through the night with no shaking, no getting up, etc. When we got home yesterday, he pooped out all the x-ray dye, but no poop. He didn't get up last night to poo or pee and he seemed to feel pretty comfortable. He played and gave kisses all last night...he was running around like a puppy again! This morning, he woke up at 6am and needed to go out...boy, what a chilly morning we had! He tried to poo numerous times between then and now and nothing but a small amount of blood came out (no poo, mucus, etc). He has eaten (alittle last night and this morning) - been adding alittle warm water over his food. He has had two of his medicines too this morning. The only time he shivered was alittle while after each time we brought him back in from being outside...so I think those shakes were from the cold. I called the vet for the update on him and she wasn't in, but they took all the info and I am waiting to hear what comes next. Wish us luck! As for the pocket of air.....(gas) - it was never a concern of mine or the vets - it was between the stuck poo (or whatever it is) and the outside world , so it wasn't behind the lump of poo building up. The vet, nor I, were not worried about the gas, especially since it was on its way out anyway. So, the gas was never an issue....I just have tried to add everything that I am told to the posts in hopes that this might help others that might run into the same problems. The vet is now just worried about the "stuff" coming out since Mojo is having a rough time passing it. She said the blood was from all the examing and "trauma" his colon has gone through and she didn't seem too worried about it, yet. But, she is good and is keeping a close eye on him. I again would like to add.....the vet has done extrememly well, so again, if I mention anything that might offend anyone out there, I am sorry, but feelings are feelings. I still prefer to find a small animal clinic or vet, BUT this vet has been very helpful and has been our vet for awhile with no major complaints. I am very pleased with most of the staff there (it is a very small office) and very happy with all she has done so far! I know that most big and small pets have just about the same problems, but our little guys are more sensitive to certain procedures than our fellow big dogs. - I know, I have had big labs my whole life! - they can just tolerate and take more than our little guys. And as a mommy to a wee little one, I would just rest easy knowing that a vet, who deals with small animals and their unique and delicate situations only, was working on my baby. It all goes back to our "human" babies.....we want the best for them and we search for the best for them. I take my daugther to a Pediatric doctor, not my doctor, because the doctor chose to work in that area....as a small animal vet....they chose to focus all their learing and love on our little ones....as a farm vet...they focus most of their care on our farm animals....granted, they all have the ability to take care of just about any animal (what wonderful people they are), but for a mom, you want to find that special one! Whew! Okay....I just wanted to let those that feel I am not pleased with my vet, know that I am, but I looking for the special one! As for the assistant/attendent telling me the gas was in the chest...well, mistakes happen! Anyway, I will let you know what the vet decides about Mojo! I am just glad that he if feeling a lot better....even if it is not 100% yet! Thank you too all!!! Jenn & Mojo |

| We've got POOP! Here's the lastest news on little Mojo...... He finally had some poop....okay, not a hard poop yet, but not just blood or a runny dot. The vet was VERY happy, as was I. She said that it is finally starting to come back to where it should be! He is still not out of the woods yet, but he is on his way! They took his IV cast off today and they gave me all of his x-rays, charts, etc....in case I needed emergency care for him this weekend. - They don't think I will, but they wanted to make sure we were all covered in case of a problem. He hasn't had another poo yet, but I am hoping that he will soon. The blood is still scary to me because I know it shouldn't be coming out from there....but I know that the vet said it is normal for this condition, so I am finally coming around to that....and hoping this it will stop over the weekend. He has been wearing himself out though....he wants to play so bad and then he will get tired and sleep for awhile (I guess I would to if I was going though all that). Thank you all for listening and giving me your thoughts and ideas! Jenn |

One thing I just thought of.....canned pumpkin. Plain canned pumpkin (NOT CANNED PUMPKIN PIE MIX) works wonders for poop. If poop is too loose it will firm up. If it's too hard it will soften poop. It cannot hurt and just might help to get him regulated again. Give 2 or 3 teaspoons if he will eat it. | |

| Two hard poops!!! Mojo finally had two hard w/ no blood poo's this morning - I am very very happy BUT his next four have been slightly runny and bloody again. I am getting ready to go look through his hard ones to see if there is anything in it (only we would do this for our babies)! HA! Atleast, he has been going more....that is a major turning point! I am keeping a log for the vet when I call in on Monday. Depending on how the rest of the weekend goes, I might see if she will do another x-ray to see if anything is still in there and if the blood should stop soon! (Still afraid of the whole blood thing). Thanks again to you all....what a wonderful group to be a part of! AND I promise to finally find the time to get my pictures resized and uploaded! | I'm so glad he is better!! I am going to jump in here at the last minute and add my two cents worth since you are new here. My girl Kip has similar episodes. Now this may 'not' be the case with your dog, but it is something to watch out for in the future. I agree with the others telling you that any food that causes a problem to your dog is a no-no, even if it might be safe for someones elses dog. My dog has had allergies to high protein foods since she was a pup and she is now 6 yrs. My vet has me keep her on the 'same' diet with no changes ever! It must be a low 8% wet type food or 24-26% dry food. High protein puppy foods can aggravate it. You might want to ask your vet about sensitive stomach foods for your baby. This is more common in yorkies than a lot of people realize, some dogs can't eat regular dog foods and have to eat rice and cottage cheese when the problem comes up. The only 'treats' that I give her are homemade cookies. I'll print my easy recipe for everyone since this is a possible solution even though it takes time, we all want our dogs to have their cookies! Good luck, I hope it doesn't continue to be a problem, but be prepared if it does continue; Economy Cookies 1/3 cup margarine softened 3 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 cup powdered skim milk 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 3/4 cup water-room temp. 1 egg beaten 1.In large bowl mix margarine and flour with a pastry cutter or fork 2.In small bowl dissolve powdered milk and garlic powder in water and whisk in egg 3.Make a well in the flour mixture and stir in the egg mixture until blended 4.Knead dough on a floured surface about 3-4 minutes until dough sticks together and is easy to work with. It will be stiff. 5. With a rolling pin, roll dough out to 1/4-1/2" thickness. 6. Cut with small cookie cutters and place on greased cookie sheet 7. Bake 50 minutes at 325 degrees 8. Cool on a rack until hard and store in a loose lid jar so they stay hard. __________________

| Thanks! I will add that to my list when I talk with the vet on Monday. I have several recipes for home-made doggie treats, but just didn't know about them....we have bought home-made treats at local craft fairs and bakeries, but they seem really hard and my little guy pretty much shows no interest in them at all.......he would rather have a new toy then a treat! Thanks again!
