YorkieTalk Newbie! | Update On Daisy Mae My Daisy Mae is Fantastic, no more episodes. It was a scary day but she is now fine. I want to thank those of you who have been so kind.... However, after being reprimanded for the way I cared for my Daisy Mae in a very uncalled for attack. I was then not allowed to respond back to one persons post on my thread.... I will now bow out and say my Good bye to this community...... |

Important FYI: All new members posts are held for approval by a Moderator until they have posted about 20 times.... this is automatic and you were not being singled out or 'not allowed' bc of anything that was happening in your thread. Just wanted you to know that. It protects members from spammers and other unwanted nonsense... Sorry this happened at a critical time when you were seeking info for your pup.

| I think she is referring to her rather caustic response to a suggestion she may consider turning her pup over to a vet or a rescue so the baby could get medical care the poster was unable to financially cover.....there were responses that were deleted. I am thrilled she was able to obtain credit care, especially with her and her husbands current life struggle, and the pup's medical care can be paid for. I just hope she did not go back to any of the vets that refused to care for her pup until she could come up with some money. THAT is where all her anger and hurt should have been directed, rather than members on here that did nothing but respond to her plea for help. Because of help she received from THIS forum, she was able to secure a way to pay for any future medical issue the pup may experience. She received NOTHING from any of the "vets" she went to for help. |

| I am very happy to hear Daisy Mae is doing well. Hope you will change your mind about Yorkie Talk. There is a lot of good here -- from the fun stuff, to the helpful. It's not always what we want to hear. I can show you one of my first threads where someone pointed out an error I made. If I had been offended and left, I would have missed out on the last 4 wonderful years participating. Quote:
If we don't pay them, who is going to pay their bills? They would be overrun and out of business if they didn't require payment immediately.

| I would never expect a vet to work for free on a consistant basis.....I was sitting in a vet office one time, and a lady came in, her little dog was sick and she had no money to pay a vet bill that day...she wanted to know if the vet would look at her baby and then when she got paid, she could pay on the bill every month until the services were paid for. The receptionist told her to sit and she would go speak to the vet. When the receptionist came out, she told her the vet would look at her dog after the people in the waiting room were seen. When I went in with my dog, I thanked the vet for taking the time to see this distraught womans little dog, knowing full well he may not ever see a dime from that lady. He smiled and simply said, "I became a vet to help sick animals....that little dog is sick and needs help. While I can not see an entire clinic for free, it kind of keeps me grounded to remember the ones desperate for help, without the immediate funds to cover the costs. It costs me very little to look at that little dog and perhaps give that lady a diagnosis for her pet, maybe a bottle of pills, and I have found in other cases I have done this with, they are so grateful, they pay me what they can, when they can...it may take them a couple of years to cover a $200.00 bill, but I eventually get my money.". Now I am not sure he would have done a free operative procedure, or free MRIs, etc (and he had all that equipment in his hospital) but I loved that vet and he gained an additional enormous amount of respect from me, strictly from what he did that day. I can appreciate perhaps a couple of the vets the OP contacted, were working on a tight budget, but I can never believe that ONE of them could not have looked at her little dog and helped her a little.... | It is not a position I personally would want to be in....I would never make ends meet! I would end up working for free! I think maybe if she had actually gone into the office and asked for help, it may have made a difference.....you walk in with a sick dog, crying and clearly frantic and scared, I dont think the vet would have sent them away empty handed...especially if there were other people in the waiting room. (I know I was buying curtains at a department store and the clerk that was helping me answered the phone....she put the person on hold....thankfully, she continued to help me....finally, I reminded her she had put that other person on hold....the sales lady said, "You made the effort to come here and do your shopping....I was waiting on you first.....people that make the effort to drive to the shopping center, find a parking place, come into the store front, and fight the crowds to do their shopping, will always be taken care of first over phone calls." Not here to argue if that is right or wrong, I appreciated it, and it actually makes sense to me!) Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 01-19-2014 at 01:46 PM. |

Then if there is another episode and you purchase a Pet Insurance Plan that covers a whole lot of things - specifically genetic conditions - you will have access to medical care. We have some good threads on here for Pet Insurance. There is also an article in the Library on it. Your dog is starting to age, I think you said she was 5yrs old. There are many things genetically that can only start to show up at 5+ yrs. To name a few, LS and or MVD, Orthopaedic problems (LP, ACL, CCL), kidney and or heart problems, CT, Cataracts, PRA, Thyroiditis, etc. Also as your dog ages just like humans there is a higher potential risk of health problems. With your Care Credit and Pet Insurance Plan, you now have a Plan for future care of your Daisy Mae. Hope that you stick around and read lots of good information here.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Let's Start Over.... I have decided to stay a member of The Yorkie Talk Community. I came here asking for HELP and I did get that, from one person, DevlshAngel985, Thank You. A couple of rotten apples does not make the whole bushel bad. I need to have a place to come to learn more about my Daisy Mae. She is only 3 and we have many more years to enjoy her companionship…With that said, I do have to get a few things off my chest. No one has any idea what we had done or went through that morning to get Daisy help. Some of your assumptions were so off base…You automatically thought the worst...Why? Not all Veterinarians are there for the comfort and safety of a sick animal. Believe it or not some vets are there just to line their pockets with cash. We are not used to living in a bigger city….We came from “small town” Ohio. Our Vet would still make house calls, let you run a tab and Never would he turn his back on a sick animal because the owner was unable to pay him. When My Precious went into kidney failure, this man cried with me while I held my little girl when he had to give her relief of her pain that final day.. He had been her vet since she was 5 weeks and she died at 16.5 years. (see pic) I dearly love my three fur babies. I would feed them and get medical care for them, or any animal, before I would for myself.... So when I was being attacked for not getting help fast enough or made to feel as if I did not care for Our Daisy...I was not only shocked but very hurt, so I lashed out. I am not a hateful or hurtful person....I am the person that would give you the shirt off my back to keep you warm or the last can of food in my cupboard to feed the hungry. I feel that No one has the right to assume they know what another person is thinking, feeling or doing. You could have asked questions before jumping to conclusions. My Precious at 16 yrs. I don't think they were judging you either. You must remember that when you post something on an online forum, people will voice their opinions...my advice is to take what you can use and leave the rest behind. This little piece of advice may help you to better understand this forum and enjoy it. So glad your Daisy is ok.
