Just bc a vet has bad bedside manners, doesn't make him a bad vet. Besides, I don't really pay attention to what reviewers say esp if it's a bad review. People have their own opinions & just bc they had a bad experience doesn't mean we all will. Hope the new vet will be much kinder & will treat Bunny so she can get well!

the new vet really loves animal and was genuinely concerned :)

Praying she will go ahead and act tonight and the vet can get that little sweetie's fever down some, get some IV nutrients/fluid in her, get her feeling well enough to take a little food as Nutrical is basically corn syrup & a few vitamins and be sure she's not dehydrated. Dogs with no appetite, very, very thin, running fever, cold are oftentimes not drinking enough water due to feeling so bad and probable nausea(often goes with fever) and they just run short on electrolytes and blood volume. You so often hear from vets how late people sometimes wait to get their very sick dogs help in time and I'm so hoping this baby is getting her help now and can rest easy tonight.

she was dehydrated vet gave her fluids a shot for nausea appetite stimulant

There is more going on here than giardia. She needs lab work and possibly imaging immediately. A few things come to mind, all of which need urgent attention.

A fever of 104 sn't severe, but what is causing the fever is.
You can try this while you figure out a way to get to the ER:

01 Fever - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company!

Rubbing alcohol on the paws can also bring a fever down.

My suggestions would be:
Use a bank card and just let it overdraft.
Call every ER around and beg for a payment plan. Ask for a manager. Agree that she stays on the premises until you have paid the bill (including boarding costs).
Try the larger hospitals (local chains) first. They can soetimes allow payments.
Consider a very small vet that may be on call tonight.
they sometimes have realy big hearts.
Pawn your valuables.
Beg a vet to take her home on an IV with them to avoid hospitalization costs.

those are great ideas if it happens again GOD FORBIDD i will try all of those also i got some dog ins pamphlets will get her on it ASAP

I'm happy to hear Bunny is much better. You will have to keep a close watch that she doesn't get dehydrated again, and she eats everyday. Great news.

I paid foor this cash the rent is incomplete but Bunny is beter so well worth it :)

I'm glad she is better. Medicine doesn't work overnight. It sounded to me like she was sick for a week before she saw the vet and got the meds. Not suremif i read that right. That is probably why it took a while to recover. Please take her in much sooner the next time she stops eating. If you catch something early it will probably save you both pain and $. You can also call the vet and ask questions when something is off. When Maggie's poos are strange for a few in a row I just take a sample over. I don't go for the whole vet visit and it is cheaper. If the stool is fine and she is acting wrong, then I take her in.

Please research Giardia and make sure you have properly disinfected.

Hopefully all goes well. Also, if you don't get pet insurance you could start a little savings account just for vet bills. Maybe you could have a small part of your pay direct deposited into this separate account. Many people save the amount they'd have spent for the insurance premium. I keep telling hubby that he better be ready in case she ever needs knee or cataract surgery when she gets old. It is very expensive but she is our baby and he better not complain because I warned him and we didn't get insurance. She is only 3, so we have plenty of time and hopefully she never needs anything, but you have to recognize the possibilities.

dawn27 10-03-2013 07:52 PM

So, very happy that Bunny is doing better. It really does make all the difference in the world when you are with a vet that you trust and have confidence in. They all want what is best, that's their job but sometimes we as fur mammas feel better if we look for another suitable matched vet service and care. I myself was in a similar situation myself.

Please keep us posted on her progress . . . :)

Patti 10-03-2013 07:59 PM

MIne is three too and no i took her right away to the first vet when the medicine was not working and she still was not eating thats when I freaked out I was giving the medicine chance to work. Did you know the first vet did not even tell me she was dehydrated just that she had a fever the second vet was way more helpful and gave me a lot of options. And yes they are our babies we have to make sure we take care of them hopefully yours never needs the surgery

piinkprincess 10-04-2013 08:17 AM

thanks guys im so glad too thanks for all the support and help

Mamatoussau2 10-04-2013 08:57 AM

margaritaville 10-04-2013 09:41 AM

Thanks for the update. Some people will come on here and ask for help, then never update. Leaving us worrying what has happened to the dog.
So glad she is doing well and that you have found a vet you can work with.
