Another small update... Buster has now had one treatment and I think it is helping. He barely coughed this morning compared to yesterday where he had a coughing spell that went on for over an hour. Right now he is taking a nap and looks like an angel. |
That's great news! I how scary a coughing fit can be for a pup and their human. I'm so happy that his meds have seemed to calm his somewhat. :) |

Lisa I am so very sorry I know we talked earlier over pm. I am just now getting to your thread. I hope that your boy has a few more months of happy and very well loved life with you. Just on the gagging and or coughing, that can simply be caused by swollen lymph nodes; they can get so huge!. And yes the chemo can work wonders. You have my Zoey thread and all the things I did to help entice her to eat. And for sure for your wee once, even mincing up very fine could be a good option. Zoey for awhile like little meatballs, but mainly she loved being spoiled and hand fed. Hugs to you and Buster ((( ))))) |
Happy to hear Buster is comfortable for now, and may he have many many more good days still. He is so lucky to be in your loving care. |
Sparky is still with us & it's been 13 mo since his diagnosis. He is still doing well & his same crazy little self. We were told 6 mo to 2 yrs is average life expectancy for lymphoma with the majority between 12 to 14 mo. We also contacted a holistic vet & had him on supplements & diet during his treatments to help with side affects of the chemo & I believe is why he did so well. A couple of things to keep in mind, #1 have plenty of Metranidazole on hand & #2 Cerenia. The only problem Sparky had was one of the drugs can cause colitis & the Oncologyst only gave a Hamster size dose of Metranidazole:confused: So it was not enough to keep him comfy, once I figured that out & called my reg vet & we upped the dose, he was like new in just a couple of hrs. Every pup responds a little diff so if there is a problem with vomiting or yucky poos, Call the vet ASAP to see if you can adjust the dosses for him. |

In the food area...Right now Buster is wanting food all the time. Hopefully, he will be like this for awhile. His favorite things to do are to eat and take a walk. Quote:

The Oncologist did give me some medicine to give to Buster, if he starts vomiting or has diarrhea. (I need to look at the names of the medicine.) So far, he is tolerating the treatments well, and we have not had to give him anything. Buster has kept his appetite, so I think that is a positive thing. |
Keeping Buster and you in my thoughts and prayers. |
I am happy to hear Buster is tolerating the treatment well and that it is already helping to alleviate his cough. Continuing to pray for him and you. |
Lisa, I am so glad to see the chemo is working to help alleviate Buster's coughing. That must be a huge relief for you. It's also great news to see that Buster has an appetite and enjoys walking. :) You're brave little man will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. BTW, I love your Avatar, Buster looks so handsome in his Hippie vest! ;) |
