Buster Might Have Lymphoma :(

I pray the chemo will help him. By any chance did they do an xray of his lungs?

Yes, they did xrays. He had a complete work up done at the specialty hospital.
Poor baby...it hurts me to hear his cough...they think it is irritation due to enlarged tonsils.
Hoping the meds kick in soon.

Ok good to know they did the xrays. You know why I was asking. Do you think maybe some cough syrup or cough tabs would be of any help to Buster? Have thet already started him on the chemo? Is he going to be taking the pill type of chemo?

Lisa you are absolutely wonderful and I love the positive tone here and I love the fact that Buster has enjoyed a good life with you and that your devoted to making sure that the rest his life is comfortable, loving and happy...I truly admire you, prayers and love being sent for you both.

I'm so sorry that Buster has lymphoma, I was so hoping it would be something else. My little Roxie got it at 4 years old after I had only had her for a year. I nursed her along for 3 months after the diagnosis. Hopefully little Buster will have many happy times in the coming months. Near the end I let her eat anything she wanted--mostly ice cream & liverwurst. She never stopped wagging her tail!

Buster is so very blessed to have you for his mom. I'm so very sorry to read the outcome of his tests. There are so many of us praying for Buster to live the rest of life out comfortably, happy and loved. And to give you the strength and peace that you may need during that time. That is so kind Lynzy. He is a happy little boy and hope to keep that way until it is time to go to the Bridge. I do think he has many, many months with us.

Oh, you must have loved your Roxie very much and I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure it was tough. I have said the same thing about Buster and his tail. He is a tail wagger. I believe with his last breath he will be wagging his tail. So sad in so many ways.

I have a small update on Buster. I talked to the vet about 4:00 and the pathology tests confirm that he has lymphoma. There appears to be a B and T type of lymphoma, with B being better. He does have the B type, which responds better to treatment, so that is good news. However, he does have some involvement in his spleen, which is not so good on the news front.

She gave me the go ahead to give Buster his prednisone medicine, but asked be to hold off on the chemo medicine until tomorrow morning. Hopefully, both of these will start helping improve his nasty cough. He returns to the MedVet Clinic in Cincinnati next Thursday for tests and more treatment.

I don't know if anyone has ever had a pup do chemo, but I am learning new things. One is that I need to wear gloves to give the medicine and toss them in a double bag to get rid of. The other is that Buster needs his own little area to potty outside. I thought about this and decided to take an xpen out in our backyard, so he would have his potty area, and Piccolo and Vivi could not access the area.

Lisa, my Sparky had spleen & liver involvement & he did very well on his Chemo.
