| I have such a good feeling about this, I believe Cassie will make a full recovery...and I for one can't wait. By the way, I would never give up on her...my prayers continue. Give yourself some credit, you did what was right for your baby...you're an awesome mom!!! Please let us know if she's home, how she's doing and how her diagnostics go.

| I am holding her in my arms as I type, so I am typing one handed and it is slow going I can tell you, LOL ![]() Today was a very eventful day in so many ways-some horrific, disturbing and upsetting, some wonderful and joyful. It started off with a bang, and i do mean bang-and a trio of wrong directions. We were on the way to picking up Cassie's medicine at the new compounding pharmacy, which was closing early that today, and all the instructions given on how to find them, were wrong. It was not across the street from the stated restaurant, but up the block, it was not the first driveway on the left, but the second, etc. etc. We were driving around for 20 minutes before we found the pharmacy, and then right in front of our eyes, in the parking lot, there was a loud crash, I saw a small jeep or something like that, going what sounded like hundreds of miles per hour and go crashing headlong into several cars. It was the loudest crash I ever heard and the jeep was practically sitting on top of those other cars. I was very shaken and ran to call the police. I doubted that the driver was alive, but he was and he was given a towel for his bleeding head and he was taken away in an ambulance. The police and ambulance were there in minutes thank god-very traumatic. Then the pharmacy gave me the wrong dosage for the furisimide, 1 ML instead of 0.1ML, 10 X the dosage that was supposed to be given. I caught it then because I am used to giving her syringes of medicine, and it is never as much as 1ML, but usually 0.3 ML or 0.4ML or 0.2ML but never 1ML as she is so tiny. I was beside myself, and I screamed so loud, I think there are people going to be fired. If I had not questioned it and given the dose as written, like so many other people who might not realize it, she would be dead with 10X the intended dose. I was literally shaking. Then off to pick up Cassie. It took a very long time for D/C. We made appointments for tomorrow to show how to give injectables, (I'm still terrified) and for her Tues appointments at the Clinic. They could not find the clothing I left with them-a minor deal, and they needed to report on when she last ate, had meds and her home tincture, etc, etc, I spoke with the doctor, who was wonderful, and she and another doctor later in the evening both shared with me that in looking at her x-rays and seeing how she looked over the past 11 days as well as reading her chart, they both said at different times, that they gave her about a 5% chance of survival. They both said they have never seen such a dramatic turn around and they say her recovery was nothing short of miraculous. THANK YOU ANGELS!!! Finally our trip home was not as calm as I had envisioned. She got tangled in the blankets they wrapped her in when they D/C'd her, my father tried to hold her in a very awkward way and I had to take her back from him, she got jostled around a bit and he had glasses in his pocket which poked her & when we finally got home she wouldn't eat and seemed to be hiccuping constantly. Then my 90 YO father with dementia (whom I am the caregiver of) fell down while bringing me the cordless phone that I asked him for while I was sitting with Cassie in my arms, in order to call the ER for questions about her eating and breathing. I almost threw her on the bed (but I didn't)- but I put her down less tan ideally on my bed in order to go help my poor father off the floor. He was alright thank god, and we ended up going back to the ER for a recheck. They did another x-ray, and it looked even better than before. They said that her breathing was okay and that she was not totally recovered yet and that is why she still needed to be on the ABX. They gave her her lasix and karo syrup & sent her home with instructions to come back at 9AM the next day. So here we are sitting and typing this Tome to you, Cassie in one arm and my other arm and hand at the keyboard. Her breathing is often very regular, soft and quiet, and then occasionally she will hiccup, or shake or jerk, and then she goes back to breathing regularly. Now she seems a little more restless, so perhaps she is thirsty, like she was this evening, or has to go potty, although she pees all over me all the time lately :-) LOL. So I have to go. I'll keep you all posted. She's starting to jerk more often- have to get her water. But this is our story and I'm sticking to it! Love, Shellie |
