She goes back in the morning at 8:30. I am praying for some kind of answer about what is going on. Is it alright to post in the sick & injured if she isn't a yorkie? |
Oh...and no the vet didn't try to squeeze anything out of it. It is tender to the touch...poor baby girl. :( |

Many, many years ago I knew someone who had been bitten by a recluse spider. They doctor injected a steroid all around that entire wound. It was on his hand and he had a pretty nasty thing going on. I don't know if that is standard treatment for those bites, but I would definitely be asking around about different treatments. |
Please do keep us all updated after seeing the vet tomorrow...worried about your girl Julia. |

Do you have any Tea bags ? if you do, you can wet one with some warm water & apply it directly on the site. It will sooth the area & help to draw out infection. Does not matter what kind of tea it is, just a tea bag. |
I hope I didn't alarm you. I'm sure every dog is different. I don't know if a scab should have been forming by now or not. Teddy Bear's did pretty quickly. Teddy Bear's bite was already black when we saw it and if Julia's is just turning black maybe it is progressing slower. I am praying for a good outcome. Please try not to worry and let us know what the vet says. Hugs.... |
I'm still thinking about and praying for Julia. I will check for an update tomorrow after her vet visit. Hang in there! |

It's possible that no venom was injected by the spider, or minimal venom residue on it's fangs, so you may just be dealing with infection... |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a picture of her Spider bite today. The hole has practically closed over night. Also, there is no more fever at the site either!! HAPPY DANCE!!! So excited. I can't wait to see what the vet says though. :) Sorry, this is Day 5. I forgot to put that in the subject line. |
I am so happy to see that picture this morning! It is so encouraging to see that because that is exactly what happened to Teddy Bear. It just started quickly started healing. It looks so much better today! I am breathing a sigh of relief. kjc thank you for the information. It is good to know. Another thing I thought of later about Teddy Bear is that we had just had him at the vet a couple of hours earlier and he was on antibiotics/anti-inflamatory meds when he got the bite. Who knows, that might have helped him heal a little quicker. |

Vet Visit Update The vet was very pleased to see that Julia's spider bite has started to heal. She is to continue both of the anti-biotics. He did say that there may still be some tissue that will die off. But it should not be a huge amount. Julia only has to go back if there is a problem to pop up. Also, DH picked up an E-cone Saturday morning. However, we didn't need it. We took it with us and they reimbursed our money. I love our vet! :) But I'm going to ordera couple ot the KissE collars to have in times like these. Well...except for Jasper's...it will be used during his grooming. But shhhhh....don't tell him. I mentioned using a tea bag and he could see no reason not to use it. He could not guarantee it would help though. So when she gets up from her nap, going to try it out. I can not tell you how much it means to me to know that I have others to lean on...even if it isn't a yorkie issue. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. :) You helped me so much more than you know. :) |
