| Update On Bentley Hello everyone! Here's the update on Bentley's skin fungus. His first treatment has not worked, the vet told me yesterday I had no choice but to shave him completely. Staying positive but not looking forward to this treatment. He has a strong dip today and his skin is horrible. This whole process has me so depressed. The vet told me he has a immunological problem that causes him to get sick often so chances are I will probably not be able to walk him outside again. He has a huge open wound on his head from scratching, bought the cone yesterday. I would not wish this upon my worse enemy this has been hell. I am going to recommend you guys a skin treatment that has worked for me in the past and made this fungus a bit better, although skin problems are hard to treat this home remedy may help someone out there. 50% apple cider vinegar 50% water dip. Scrub in with rough sponge, then let air dry. In a spray bottle mix 50% Listerine and 50% baby oil with 2 table spoons of water to dilute it a bit. Works miracles, this cures many funguses and demodex mange. http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/...psb00a3240.jpg http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/...psafbcd3dd.jpg http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/...psfc312f44.jpg http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/...ps20f66d26.jpg http://i1351.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7070cbb.jpg

| Praying the treatments work for him! I think what Tracey said about going to a dermatologist is a good idea. Hoping he gets some relief soon.

| I would consider adding omega 3s to his diet. I also would go to a dermatologist not a regular vet to make sure this is treated correctly.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Oh my goodness, that poor baby. It looks bad and that open wound looks even worse. I really hope that you can find something that will work for him. Maybe you could find some sort of leave in oil treatment or something used for smoothing rough skin. I wonder if that would work for him. Have you tried using a flea comb to rid him of some of the build up and flaking? Does it itch ?

| I had a pup who came to me a mess...he had fungal and bacterial infections on his skin. The treatment for the fungal infection was Selsun Blue Shampoo...followed with a 50/50 vinegar and warm water rinse that was left in. I had to bathe him 3 times/week. It was amazing how well it worked! I have shown these pics before..but for those who might not have seen them, here are his before and after pics: Index of /cody I agree with the others. If he does not clear up soon, you might want to consult with a dermatologist.

| Ladygane wow!! What a difference!! Thank you so much everyone. He looks completely different now with no hair. I am seeing my veterinarian and the dermatologist but I had to leave the dermatologist and stick to the regular veterinarian because the consultation alone is $170 without any treatment and they prescribed the same thing my regular vet already had. Its very expensive and my veterinarian says she has helped dogs that have been worse. I am a student and I work part time from home, my husband and I have streched out our finances to pay for treatment so far. I really cant afford the dermatologist right now. We shaved him last night and this morning I bathed him with antifungal shampoo then dipped him in metiban which is a strong dip. Hes on antibiotics for the open wound and an oral medication to fight the infection. His skin is so dry I get scratched from putting him against me and I cant put oil because the fungus reproduces in moisture so the bath and dip only make his skin dryer. Skin problems are hard to treat but im hopefull that my Bentley will be happy again. Now its tough for him, all day in a play pen feeling bad side effects but soon it will all be over. Im hurt that he wont be able to be walked outside he loves the sun and walks, maybe in the future. I love him so much.

| He was 8 at the time. He also had the beginning of renal issues. He did very well on a kidney diet, but in the end Cody passed away just before he turned 13. He was a love of a pup....loved his toys.
