| Help!! I have a 3 year old male yorkie (3.5lbs) He was feeling down the last week and having bloody stool so I took him to the vet. He has been diagnosed with most likely a liver shunt and I was wondering if anyone has gone through this with their baby. I am devastated. I have read about the surgery being extremely risky but have heard of no other treatment. Has anyone else gone through this and could offer me some info?? |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I'm sorry your little boy and you are facing this. Many people here have been through this with their pups. Surgery always carries risk, but liver shunt surgery when performed by an experienced doctor has a positive track record. Just so you know, new members' posts are held for moderation and may not show immediately. This ends after about 5 posts. I'm sure the experienced members here will share their stories.

| Thank you. I found another thread about the same things and that helped a lot. The initial thought I had was devastation but I am going to stay positive. He comes home from the vet tomorrow and I will hear what options there are. |

| Glad you found other threads and that they gave you reassurance. I fully understand being frightened and worried. Keep us updated on what the vet says/
