I agree with insurance, and a fund to pay upfront. ERs are expensive. Since they are available when vet's aren't open, they can charge more so they're available 24/7. (operating costs to keep it open are probably high) They sorta have you in that respect. I too wish they weren't so expensive.

I know, they're so expensive... but ... emergencies always seem to happen in the middle of the night and on weekends/holidays... And I know if I was doing my job in the middle of the night or on a weekend/holiday I would be charging top dollar

I have dog insurance for sick visits...its 42.00 a month but worth it..

And another thing Great about The Care Credit card is depending on the $ amount you can spread the payments out interest free. My dental bill was over $200 and the payments were spread out over 6 months interest free. The more the amount the longer the payments are spread out. (hope that make sense). Yup it's good you and your pets. You can apply on line for the credit card. A few years ago my daughter 19 who didn't have any credit applied for the credit card and got it and has used it many times on her dog. A real life saver for her. It really can come in handy in an emergency with health care for your self or your fur babies.

Depending on location, ERs can really striggle to make any kind of profit. I know ot seems outrageos, but most really aren't overcharging (some do though).

Just to staff a place like this takes, on average, $100+ an hour. Multiply by 24. So they are out $2400 a day. Operating costs are higher. There is no steady flow of patients. So if they see 10 things at only $200 each, they are out an extreme amount of money for the day.
