| Vision worsening?? My yorkie has had a vision issue since birth. She is 3 years old. She isnt 100% blind. For some reason today she suddenly started drooling and she was walking as if she were drunk. She would go lay down and her head would just "bobble". I took her to the vet and they gave her fluids, anti-nausia, and anti-biotics. Its been about 4 hours. Shes not as bad but all she wants to do is lay down. Shes is laying down anywhere. She will walk a few steps and lay down. Also she hasnt urinated since early this morning. Does anyone have any advice? |

| What is the cause of her vision issues? And, what did the vet tell you today?

| Sounds pretty worrisome. What did the vet say? If she's not urinating, you'll have to get her back into the vet as soon as you can as there could be a serious problem causing that.

| I didnt have blood tests done. She didnt know what was wrong. She said maybe an ear infection. The vet just told us three wks ago she is blind. Im sure she isnt completely blind because she sees me and such. I dont know the cause of her vision issues. She was clutzy when she was young and we knew she couldnt see well. However the vet said shes 100% blind. |

| Sounds to me like you really need to see a specialist to find out what is going on. Her symptoms sound pretty serious to me. SHe might need a neurologist, but I would start with an internal med specialist first. YOu can find one at American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine > Home Her symptoms do not sound like an ear to me......I am not a vet...just a pet owner, but they sound pretty serious.

| Agree with Ladyjane. I think she needs a neuro and you need something definitive based on lab values, history and symptoms. She could be in pain and without testing and a second opinion you might not know. A drooling, odd-behaving dog who is apparently staggering or wobbly who doesn't want to pee until it absolutely has to needs a good medical work-up.

| Thank you. I am worried sick. My husband is off tomorrow and will be taking her. He said he thought it was neurological too. |

| I hate to frighten people, but I think you need to look at this and think about these symptoms that your pup is exhibiting...and think about some serious vetting to get to the bottom of what is ailing her. I could be way off base, but I think this warrants some thought: Granulomatous Meningoencephalitis Brain and Spinal Cord Inflammation in Dogs | petMD

| I took her to the vet. To an inexperienced 20 tear old girl. I will take her to the vet tomorrow. I spent $200 today for no help from her. I really dont want to take her back to this girl. |

| Get her to a specialist as Ladyjane suggested and they will get to the bottom of this. Poor little baby - sounds like with her blindness, she's already got a strike against her and now facing this. It's not fair, poor little one. I'll sure be hoping and praying it is something that can be easily diagnosed and treated.

| It sounds like you need a different vet...I DO think a board certified internal med vet would be best ... it might cost more for the exam fee but I think you would have a better idea about what you are looking at.

| I would get this pup to a specialist ASAP & if she were mine she would be going to a Neurologist ASAP as the symptoms she is having are that of GME & Chiari so I would NOT waste another minute on a regular vet. How old is your baby ? |
