Has anyone's dog survived parvo??

I'm so sorry to read this. Didn't KendraE's Mack Brown have it over a year ago, diagnosed after he'd had exploratory surgery or something. Mack had something terrible and my memory isn't too sharp right now but wasn't it Parvo?

Nancy, no vaccine is 100%. The only dog I ever had that got parvo was my families 1st Yorkie & she was the only dog we ever owned that was vaccinated yearly & nearly to the date every year & still got parvo, she survived because we took fast action . The best thing you can do for your pups is to know them & get them to the vet ASAP at the 1st sign of a problem. We can't live in fear of all these things or our babies would all be living in plastic tubes like the Beagle in the flea commercial, lol

I think the Parvo dx. didn't come until page 6 or something like that. Nope, page 7. He was a blue born Yorkie and Mack survived it and surgery together.

If you did not use VIRKON ANTIVIRAL, you wasted your time. Clorox does not kill the parvo virsu, in spite of what a lot of people think. But this is just coming from someone that has been through it and saved a litter of 5. Th virus they shed, is active for up to two years....so anyplace that puppy walked, or anyplace YOU walked, after walking where the puppy walked, has been contaminated with the shed virus. Good luck.....

Absolutely!! People bring all kinds of pets into those places, and you have no idea if they are right off the street or of they are as well taken care of as YOUR baby....I also wear some special shoes when I go into anyplace like that....they come off in the garage, and sit in a shallow dish with that Virkon solution in it. I order everything on line that I can possibly order on line. I dont like putting stuff on credit cards...I like PayPal, and not every place uses PayPal, so I miss out on what they have to offer....I was really hoping retailers would have responded much more enthusiastically to the credit card fiasco and make direct withdrawal from checking accounts an option....

I've had dogs die and survive Parvo. The faster you catch it and treat it the better the chances are for their survival. I wish that everyone that owns a dog could make theirselves aware of this virus. You did the right thing by taking them to the vet immediately. Praying for your little ones!

Thank you so much everyone!!! I was a nervous wreck before I saw them. I went to see my doctor yesterday because of everything that's going on. My blood pressure was very high (I usually have it low) so the doctor prescribed some low dose Xanax to calm me down for the week. I feel a lot better, I had to put off taking my third one to the vet until today because I couldn't afford another $550 but thankfully my husband was able to pull out a credit card. I'm taking her in today hoping for the best. It's just a shock to have through this all in one day but with the help of everyone things should be fine. I'm so grateful to be on this forum because we all love our dogs so much an we u d'état and each other. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your issues with parvovirus. that everyone comes out healthy !

Just double checking since you mentioned earlier that you cleaned really well but took 3rd dog to vet today. Did you clean your entire house, yard, garage, etc with the Virkon AFTER taking her to vet?

Yes I kept my baby quarantined from the rest of the home and I will clean again before they come home. I just need more virkon my neighbor gave a virkon powder not sure if it the same thing. I only foud it online, wonder if I could get it from the feed store.

I dont know f it is available from a feed store....I buy mine on line in a bucket size....powder you mix with water and put in a sprayer, and spray all surfaces and allow it to dry.......I am so glad the babies are doing better....
