Has anyone's dog survived parvo?? Has anyone else's Yorkie or dogs survived parvo? My 3 babies tested positive and my heart is sinking. Bentley is 5 months, Nina 11 months and Mia 3 years. Would love to hear success stories, or more info. Need some uplifting !! Thank you! |
So sorry.:( My dogs ave ever had it, but yes, tey can do ok! Hospitalzation with appropriate 24 hour care and they have a good chance. |
Back in 1983, I had a little mix that was over a year old when I brought home a 3 month old Dachshund. She got sick in the car and kept throwing up after I got home. I blamed it on car sickness, but she had parvo. My little mix just had her parvo booster but got a bad dose of it anyway. She survived but the Dachshund died in the hospital. |
They can survive especially if its caught early. Over the yrs on here I have seen dogs that survived it so I know its possible and it sounds like you did catch it early so I think thats in your favor |
doing well Our rescue just had 5 puppies. We got a rott/shepard mix at 5 weeks. Then a 2 boxer mix and 2 chix/ lab mix( yes I know). The rott got sick pretty quickly at 9 weeks of age. Then of course the others. All made it which really surprised all of us although as soon as the first was diagnosed we had the others tested and they were treated quickly. With good vet care you have a very good chance. I know how worried you are. My Niko is just 5 months old and I was terrified of bringing it home. Talk to your vet about what you need to do to disinfecte. Parvo can live a long time in the environment. Some say months, some say years. I err on the side of caution. They also shed the virus for 3-4 weeks after treatment. Good luck, a prayer for both of you. |
I just wanted to say that your babies are in my prayers. It is going to be a tough fight for them but treatment can and has helped. I wanted to say to pay close attention to what yorkiemom1 posted in your other thread ok? Once those babies are well (gotta believe! Praying hard here!), you need to bring them home to parvo-free house. Get that cleaner that she told you about ok? That way you know the virus is killed. Hugs! Hang in there! Think positive and know all of us are praying super hard for your littles!! |
Thank you guys and yes They are doing a lot better today. Saw Bentley and Nina and they are strong my older chihuahua seemed like normal but the Yorkie is still depressed it seems. So horrible leaving them there, I have cleaned everything super well and I threw out all the toys and beds. It's just nerve wrecking when your animals are like family. I spend all day with my babies, one positive thing Im taking from this is knowledge. I will be way more careful from now on.... Thank you everyone for your prayers and support, I thought I could handle this easier but you don't know until it happens to you .....:animal-pa |

So sorry this has happened to your babies, can you tell me if they were immunized? What does the vet say caused this? Sending prayers your way. |

Saying s prayer for your babies. |
I am so very glad they are doing better. I worried about them so much. Apparently, Tamiflu is a great thing for this. The earlier it's caught, the better, I think. I hope you got the cleaner that was suggested. I have never heard of it, but my friend that had the dog with parvo cleaned her house with bleach and it didn't do any good apparently. I think she mopped and cleaned with straight bleach and her dog still got it. She had had another dog die from it a year or so before and thought she had her house cleaned with the bleach, but that was not the case. I had never heard of that cleaner either, but it sounds like a Godsend! |

I am so sorry, and hope they all make a complete recovery. I can't even imagine having 3 that sick at the same time. Prayers are going out for them. |
I'mm glad they are doing better. Continuing to pray for complete recovery, I just can't imagine what you are going through! {{{Hugs}}} |
