| No, my dogs have never had food allergies or sensitivities to anything. Here is what the vet wrote: Dexter shows clinical signs compatible with allergies, which could be caused by Adverse Food Reaction or Atopy (environmental allergies). I discussed the ways to rule-out these two different conditions with your husband and recommended a trial with anti-histamines for now. This class of drugs only leads to results in about 25% of canine patients, but is fairly inexpensive and easy to purchase OTC. If no improvement in Dexter's level of itchiness is noticed in 5-7 days on either medication, please contact our office to discuss diet trial and possibly a combination anti-histamine and steroid. Please try ONE of these medications at-a-time for at least 5 days: Benedryl 25mg - Give 1/2 tablet by mouth every 12 hours Zyrtec 5 mg - give 1 tablet by mouth every 24 hours

| no, 2 months ago. This actually puts me in a bind also. He's a bit overdue for his vaccinations, there is a clinic this weekend that they are going to go to. Then I was going to set up a grooming appt for next week, before the family comes over for Easter. But now with his skin raw like that, will it hurt him? Will his vaccines along with the benedryl be too much meds on his tiny body? UGH UGH!!!!

| The groomer won't groom w/o the vaccinations being up to date. What is titers? Dexter is 7. To make matters worse, Dexter has a history of allergies from the vaccinations. So whenever he gets them he gets a shot of Benedryl and a pain killer along with his vaccinations. One time he blew up, eyes swelled shut, hives everywhere within 2 hours of getting vaccinated. Rabies & distemper. OMG.... Im feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. I try so hard to keep my boys healthy. This is maddening.
