I always get "Torbutrol in Vitamino" for my babies...it is liquid, and it is easily taken, and it isnt a large amount to give....depending on the size of the dog and the issue with pain, less than 1cc for a 5-6 lb dog....it is well tolerated too.

I use Bupranex....same thing. Small amount does the trick and the dogs don't mind it. Tramadol is a bear to give to a small one....it tastes awful unless the people compounding it know what to put it in. The EC here gets a mix that is good, but the one my surgeon uses is dreadful.

No it is a narcotic for pain relief...it also controls coughing and is anti nausea med, when dosing is adjusted for those uses....
