| Ginger is Sick...Advice Please Tonight at 5:30 pm, Ginger threw up yellow bile and I could see a dog treat half chewed in there. She has not been acting like herself since. Twice I have seen her sit and kinda hunch. She lays but doesn't look comfortable and changes positions. I have looked at her stomach and I can't tell that it's bloated or distended. I listened to her stomach and I did hear some gurgling noises. I did some Googling and read about bloat and then pancreatitis. I'm thinking - but not sure - could it be pancreatitis. ????? I just called the Emergency Vet and explained her symptoms. My question is this. Do I need to take her NOW or can I wait and see my regular vet first thing? Of course, I would prefer to see my vet but don't want to make the wrong call. They basically said for me to make the call and that I can wait and see how it goes. They are there all night so I can go anytime. While I was on the phone with the vet, she vomited again - just now. My DH came to tell me as I was hanging up. When we cleaned it up, there was 2-3 clumps of hair in the yellow bile. She is a paw chewer. I'm worried about my girl and need some advice. What do I do? Right now she is in her cloud 9 bed and is being still. She would normally be right beside me here on the couch.

| How old is she? How much does she weigh? Is this the first day she has vomited? Is she drinking? If she is acting lethargic or not drinking I would take her in. Praying for your little one.

| Ginger is 4 years old, weighs 9-10 pounds. She is acting uncomfortable. She has not had any food or water since 5:30pm for sure. Yes, first day of vomiting - only twice so far.

| I think I would take her in. It's always better to be safe. I know you want to see your vet but I think since she is acting different and not drinking I would go in. These babies dehydrate so quickly. Does your vet not have an after hours to call?

| My vet just gives the number for the Emergency Vet Hospital. They use to have their own on call but that wasn't on the machine tonight. Disappointed in that.

| I would have her seen asap. These could be symptoms of an intestinal blockage.

| I would take her in now. Pancreatitis can turn deadly in a heartbeat. It is nothing to mess around with. One of my pups threw up three times one afternoon. I took him to my vet and one of her partners saw him. He did blood work and felt that George was ok...gave him subcutaneous fluids and some pain meds and sent him home. I worried all night and first thing the next day, I took him to the specialty hospital I use in Houston. Thank God I got him in when I did. They did an ultrasound and his pancreas was very inflammed and he had fluid in his chest and abdomen. They gave him a 50/50 chance of surviving that night...and had to give him plasma. Pancreatitis is very serious and very painful. Taking her to the EC does cost more but it is so important that IV fluids and meds be started right away if they indeed have it. Good luck and please keep us posted.
