OP....you have a specialty hospital right there in Dallas that I have heard is very good. You could also go there. As for A&M, yes, I believe you can go straight there; but I would call them first so that they know you are coming.

| I will keep you and Luvee in my thoughts and prayers. I am going to contact someone in Dallas to find out the name of that place there if you want to go there.

| It just hit me...if she was just in heat...maybe pyometra? Did they consider that? I am concerned about this.

| There is an Emergecny Hospital that is located in Grapevine that is also has ties with the Dallas Vetinary Surgical Center that has several locations in the DFW area. If possible I would have her admitted to Emergency and then she can get moved over to the Specialist Office to see a specialist. This way you shouldn't have to have a referral. The Doctors are very good there. I have used them many times when I have had sick babies. Here is the ER Clinic: Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas This is the Speciality Hospital: Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center Home Page

| I do hope she has taken this little one some where...the advice given here has been excellent. Hopefully she took it and her baby is being taken care of as we speak. All I can really add is my thoughts and prayers are definitely with you.

| I'm hoping this is just due to her heat cycle. First heats can be rough on littles, and biggies too. My girl was noticibly off, just not herself, no appetite, mostly lethargic for a few days when she had her heat.

| I was hoping for an update as well. I see that OP has signed on today at 3:00pm, but no posts have been made. I just hate when things like this happen.

| Thank you all for the kind thoughts, posts and prayers. They are so appreciated AND FELT . Luvee and I are indeed in Aggieland. We arrived at 2:30 and by 2:35 she was under their care. I can't say enough about this place so far. They are very thorough. (I had signed on to Yorkie Talk to tell all that we'd arrived but a Dr. came in before I could get anything in my iPhone.) Her initial assessment of Luvee was good. She said she was in good health and walking around and that the nurses had already fallen in love with her. She said she was puzzled as to why I was there. I was persistent and said, "No offense Dr. but I know my dog better than you do at this point and she is not well, trust me, or I would not have driven 3.5 hours to have her evaluated". I then asked for more blood work and x-rays with sonograms of her abdomen. She agreed and said that it would be costly. I said I did not care one bit and that I wanted to the bottom of it. As I was checking into the hotel, my primary vet called to see how things were going. My vet is wonderful and he said that he was told by the attending vet that "I was persistent" and he said he was glad and that was the best way to obtain results. I do not leave any Dr's office unless I am satisfied with the information and results given. I'm a pain in their behind but it is my (our) right to get the best care along with the correct answers. ******* FYI, you do need a referral from your primary vet before they will admit your baby so be aware of that. Also, this place is so easy to find. It is on (426) University Dr/Raymond Stotzer Blvd. Just in case anyone needs to plug it into their phone, the Small Animal Clinic no. is 979-845-2351. ******* Things to mention on Luvee's history. I had indeed taken her to the emergency hospital in Grapevine. I do like that place. Dr. Speed was very thorough and she was the first vet to get stumped. She had mentioned pyometra but dismissed it due to her blood test results, however, I did ask the attending vet here in College Station about it earlier. They will look into it also. I got a phone call shortly after checking into the hotel and the intern asked me to come back to discuss some findings and results from the blood tests. Needless to say I was a wreck driving there. The attending vet sat down with me and said that the blood results had declined a bit. What has me stumped is that the vet said Luvee is not dehydrated. I guess I forced it enough to her. Luvee's x-rays and sonogram will be first thing in the morning. If those tests turn out to be inconclusive then next will be the internist department and a brain scan for GME (at my request). Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you all so much for your support. |
