| Another ear infection!!?? Woke up this morning and Fletcher had an ear infection. This makes 2 for Dexter in the last 2 months and now 1 for Fletcher. What is going on?? They are 7 years old and never had ear infections before. There are 3 things I questions as to why this could suddenly be happening.... 1. Kitchen renovations going on, maybe dust ? Although this is a thought, Dex's first one happened before we started the kitchen work. 2. They are on Taste of the Wild food, it was recalled about 5 months ago and when it came back I started them on it again (3 months ago at least). Could the formula have changed since the recall? Dexters first infection was 3 weeks after I started back on TOTW. I took him to the ER vet and she said it was not food related. 3. They are going to a new groomer, could it be new products or is she plucking in their ears? I am not sure how i'd know that. They have not been groomed in 3 weeks now so I can't imagine that products would be the source if it has taken 3 weeks to kick in. Anyone else have any ideas why this keeps happening to my babies?

| I am so sorry! Talk to your groomer and ask what products are used in your babies' ears. Is there any difference on amount of plucking going on? Some dogs must have their hair plucked, others do better just leaving it alone and combing to remove strays (kind of like plucking nose hair in humans can lead to infection). Do their ears appear to be waxy or dirty before the infection starts? I use a tiny flea comb with very closely spaced teeth to comb ear hair every day. After baths and maybe in between, use an ear cleaner with a drying agent in it to dry excess moisture and wax. Food is possibility. Yeast overgrowth too. A probiotic supplement may be worth a try. I hope you can find a solution to prevent future infections.

| Thanks so much! The vet tested the stuff that came out of Dexters ear on the first infection, although to me it looked awful, she said it was a mild infection, and there was no yeast. I asked her about food allergies and she said there was no yeast, so it's not food related. This is why I'm stumped. I'll have to go to the groomers and ask what they do for ear hair and tell them to do the opposite for next time. They have been groomed 4x a year if not more for over 6 years by different groomers unless they all plucked and this one does not, or the opposite, I can't imagine its product like I said because it's weeks after grooming the infection comes.

| Hopefully checking with the groomer will shed some light on this problem. They may be using something that is carrying an infection from another animal and they need to know. I'm not sure how you go about this but I wish you good luck and pray you find the answers you need for your pup!!
