| ![]() Pippa is 9 months old and weighs 4 pounds. She just ate a chunk of my memory foam pillow. I would say the chunk is about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. Any experiences with this? I'm trying to decide if I should call the vet this time of night, or wait to see if she has any troubles from it. This is my first time owning a dog ever, so any help would be appreciated! |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | ![]() OMG... ![]() She will more than likely need surgery to remove it. Im sure it can wait til the morning but no later, dont put it off any longer than you have to.

| ![]() I think I would get her in ASAP, too. Something like that could easily cause an obstruction I am thinking. Perhaps if they can reach it while it is still in the stomach with a scope, it won't require real surgery.

| ![]() I'd have her seen asap... that foam is so dense it could also cause dehydration... the sooner the better for her to see the vet...

| ![]() Thanks for the advice guys. I did call the vet and he told me to watch her very closely tonight. If she started vomiting or showing pain, he told me to bring her right in. Otherwise, I am to call first thing tomorrow morning to get her in for an x-ray and possible endoscopy. That was an awkward phone call to make at midnight, since the vet on call is the parent of one of my first-grade students. He probably thinks I'm a dork right now, but oh well. ![]() |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() I am praying for that foam to come out the other end. If she didn't eat too much and it goes right through she may be ok. That foam stuff is real soft with no rough edges so perhaps she will be fine. Oh please Lord, get this little dog to run that mess through her system immediately. |

| ![]() If one of my pups did this, I would have them scoped immediately before it could make it to the intestines and cause major problems. I would also be concerned about the effect that stomach acid would have on the polyurethane foam. It could break it down back to its components, which are pretty nasty things, like isocyanates and amine catalysts.
