| ![]() I agree. He could be having pain from Glaucoma, that can happen with cataracts. However, if diagnosed it can be helped with drops or even laser surgery I believe. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() This article might be helpful, it says, "A dog born blind will have little trouble accepting the condition, but a newly blinded dog may become depressed. He will need extra loving attention to overcome the emotional impact of his new condition." It is possible that his lying around might be a symptom of depression, but I would certainly ask the vet about it. Also, there are some good tips on how to help. Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() I have had several blind dogs. One was a traumatic event when a groomer accidentally poked his eye with a scissor. Eventually, a story too long to tell, he lost both eyes. He also layed around for quite a while. I bought some toys for him called squiggly wiggly's. They make a sound when they move. It brought him out of his shell. I had him for 5 years after his accident. If you did not pay close attention, it was hard to tell he had no eyes. He learned the layout of the house. He could climb the steps, just could not go back down! He walked on a leash and followed the sidewalk and grass line to continue on. It took a while for him to adapt, but he did. I think he was happy. He loved his squiggly wiggly's. He played more than my sighted dogs. It just took time for him to adapt. I hope your little one will also. |
