I have had several blind dogs. One was a traumatic event when a groomer accidentally poked his eye with a scissor. Eventually, a story too long to tell, he lost both eyes. He also layed around for quite a while. I bought some toys for him called squiggly wiggly's. They make a sound when they move. It brought him out of his shell. I had him for 5 years after his accident. If you did not pay close attention, it was hard to tell he had no eyes. He learned the layout of the house. He could climb the steps, just could not go back down! He walked on a leash and followed the sidewalk and grass line to continue on. It took a while for him to adapt, but he did. I think he was happy. He loved his squiggly wiggly's. He played more than my sighted dogs. It just took time for him to adapt. I hope your little one will also. |
