| ![]() Hi,, poor little Max (5 mo. old) does this every morning as soon as he wakes up and I let him out of his kennel. This carries on (on and off) for about 30 minutes or more. He also does it during the day but only when he wakes up from a nap. It's not nearly as harsh then though. He NEVER does it when he gets excited and playing. this started the night of his 2nd shots. Got better and then came back full throttle after his 3rd set of shots. I think its kennel cough because it does seem to be getting a little better lately. 3 different vets have told me it revers sneezing. But I've had a maltese and pomeranian who both reversed sneezed and they never did it just after waking. EVER! They only did it when they got excited during the day and it never seemed as hard on them as it is on Max. Help! Is it kennel cough or reverse sneezing, or maybe a little of both? | ![]() Did the vet(s) run tests to see if it could be kennel cough? Do you have a video or something where we can hear it? (I see you posted something that says download but I couldn't access it) I'm so sorry your little Max is having this problem. ![]()

| ![]() I couldn't download it either but would be interested in seeing it as Wallee often wakes in the morning sneezing as well. It seems to come and go so I am pretty sure it isn't a cold. |

| ![]() The video is from my Iphone and I can't figure out how to get it work on here. No, all 3 vets I saw didn't check to see if it was kennel cough (which I think it is). It's just stops him in his tracks though. It's like he almost can't stay standing it makes him so weak. I don't know what to do anymore. Poor little guy,, I just dread the mornings. |

| ![]() If it is kennel cough it is HIGHLY contagious and any dog you have recently been in contact with with yours will likely get it. Kennel Cough is a distinctive cough. It is a dry hack, that isn't usually confused with a sneeze. Your dog will often be less alert and lethargic - they may not neccessarily cough all day long but you will notice that they are not feeling 100%. Usually, following the coughs, there is often foam / bile that comes out , this is from coughing so hard. Dogs will sometimes have a fever, and discharge from the eyes - yellow or green as it is an infection in the body. It should be difficult for a vet to misdiagnose kennel cough really. Reverse sneezing generally is a sound coming from the nose. They are compensating breathing through the nose because the throat is blocked (the trachea temporarily flaps shut). The incubation period for kennel cough is 7-10 days, sometimes more |
