Yorkie Yakker | Nerve damage and potty problems A while back I came here when my baby was attacked. I have been back this site has so much information! Crickett had suffered some nerve damage when he was attacked. The nerve damage caused him to not have control over his BM's, I was told back then that if there wasn't any improvement quickly that there would probably be no improvement. The result of this is that when Crickett sleeps most of his BM's happen. Few times it can happen when he just walks across the floor, he has no clue its happening. Bless his heart when he goes outside he tries very had to go but since his attack he has maybe been able to go less than 5 times outside. I wondered if anyone here has a Yorkie with the same problem that may be able to shine some light on what could help with this problem, more than what I have found on my own ... that is basically follow him around with a box of tissues. Back at the time this attack happened I had been looking into diapers, but his vet wasn't keen to that idea because of skin irritation that could result in using diapers. Lately Cricket has been leaving very small wet spots on the carpet, I am not sure if after all this time if nerve damage can get worse or what is going on. Other than this he is just the perfect little dog! |

Max Main's Mamma Donating YT Member | I don't have any advice..just wanted to say Cricket is a cutie and he's very lucky to have a good mommy that follows him around with tissues.

Yorkie Yakker | LOL thank you! gave me a little giggle there I forgot to add that he has an issue with his back leg that the attack dog got hold of, the part of our floor that has no carpet he has a hard time getting across... it reminds me of someone trying to get across ice on skates that doesn't know how to skate. We had considered taking up the carpet so it would be easier to clean up after him, but then he would have a hard time getting around the whole house! Its very hard to try keep up with his wet spots! |

| I have no advice perhaps the vet ortho is the best person to answer this. After Princess's spay she will tinkle just a little in her bed either while sleeping or when she first gets up. My vets only advice was this can happen and to not leave her with water in her kennel abd ebsure sge pees 'a good one' before bed...I ensure she tinkles before bed but I will never remove the water bottle I just cant bear to let her get thirsty...so I do her kennel bedding almost daily.

Yorkie Yakker | I also do the bedding daily. Crickett has no water in his kennel, I have tried that several times but he wont drink in there anyway ... I assumed that's because he goes potty in there while sleeping. I am always up before the crack of dawn, and the last person to go to bed puts him in the kennel, that can be anywhere between midnight and 3 am, so hes not in there to long. Maybe it is time to see the vet again, If he is 5 years old maybe this new problem is not connected to the old problem. I am not finished paying for his surgeries yet and he has one more surgery to go. So I have been avoiding the vets office as much as possible (seemed like that was our second home for a while there). I was trying to catch up to myself, should have surgeries paid in March! whooo hooo! |

| I dont know if this helps but my dogs have wire kennels 3 the kind with 3 doors so I removed the doors and they are semi attached like one long kennel anyways we use a water bottle attached to the wall. Its a good thing she wont eat or drink standing water where she is pottying.. If she did that would be another issue. I went through that with Scoibers pooping on his bed and sleeping next to it years ago when I first got him. Scoobers also wil dump out a water bowl if it antwhere by gis bed.

| Maybe a bellyband to help control the urine spotting, just change it as needed.

Yorkie Yakker | Not sure how an extended kennel would help him, however now I am wondering if he would move to the other side to be sleeping in a clean spot. He is only in the kennel at night time so we don't step in his presents in the dark at night If we go any place he has run of the house. |

| I definitely think belly bands might be the answer for your little guy. It would be good for you to get quite a few of them so you can change them frequently and wash them. Bless you for taking care of your little boy... I'm sorry that he was attacked

Yorkie Yakker | Thank you for your response, I think it is belly bands for him. I wish I had a sewing machine. I am finding them to be about $10 each. Thinking about checking second hand stores for a sew machine! |
