Emergency vet visits are expensive.

I swear here "it" always happens Friday @ 5:30...
Having a savings, credit card or vet who will take payments is part of affording a pet.

I hope your baby is okay........please keep us updated. These little ones can sure make us worry! Good luck...........it does get pretty expensive at times. I have actually requested certain tests be done that the vet didn't even suggest. Just like another member stated........for my piece of mind!

We have been here for almost an hour and havent seen a doctor yet im so fustrated!!!!! Its 12:30 am i really need to be home in bed!!!! I have work tomorrow

Im sorry that you are having to wait so long. You are doing the right thing by having your baby seen be a vet. Hang in there! Let us know how things are going. We will be praying.

The doctor came in and said her leg is broken; i called my daughter and drilled her asking her what happen today and she finally admit that she sat on Bella leg...oh my gawd im so mad right now

Oh I am so sorry this has happened. I am sure it was an accident and your daughter feels horrible and was just afraid to tell you.

They are now doing xrays and gonna put a splint on her leg i paid 300.00 out of pocket...i started crying when i found out her leg was broken because my daughter was careless...

The splint is not going to work she need surgery!!!! $2500!!!! All this could have been prevented or i have the choice to have her leg amputeed

Did/can you apply for Care Credit ? You need to figure out a way to get her the surgery. Amputation for a broken leg is unacceptable in my opinion. Can you borrow the money from someone , family or friends ? Maybe take out a small loan at your bank. You need to start stashing money , a small amount from every paycheck adds up fast . These are the things you have to be prepared for when you have a pet, just like children. I'll be Praying that you find a solution so your baby can have surgery to repair her leg.

I don't think you could count on insurance as they normally have a waiting period & normally you still have to pay for the vet services up-front & then the insurance reimburses you.

I am so sorry. Please do not have her leg amputated. She is young and this is fixable. I know the cost is crazy, but you can find a way!!

There is an awesome vet in Houston who you can go to...he is expensive but perhaps if you go there and talk with him he can help you out. His name is Dr. Beale and he is at Gulf Coast Veterinary Services at Post Oak and the 610 loop. I have used him for many orthopedic cases and he is the best! They do take Care Credit. You can apply for that through them...or go online and do it before you go: CareCredit Healthcare Finance - Payment Plans and Financing for Cosmetic Surgery, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Veterinary & Other Medical Procedures

There are other vets who will offer to do cheap fixes...make absolutely sure they are offering to do the same thing that a specialist will do. I have seen people look for and find cheaper care only to end up spending more in the end to fix the damage done by the cheap solution. There are some cheaper vets in this area who are ok...none that I would use but many do without an issue so you can ask around. Just please be very, very careful!!

I was afraid of this. They hide their pain so well.

Fixing it is obviously the best option. However, if you just cannot afford it and don't want to rehome, amputation is perfectly acceptable. Do what works or your family. She would be losing the leg needlessly, but do what ou have to do. Amputation runs about a thousand here.

How about Care Credit? Or a vet that takes payments?

Oh my goodness! You were so smart to take her in. I figured it was just LP but a broken leg oh my! I hope the vet worked out some payment options for you. Praying your baby heals quickly.

In my experience, the ER vet has been about twice as much as my regular vet. I don't know if getting in touch with your vet is possible or not.

The only issue I have with an amputation of a leg that can be fixed is that then the pup only has three legs. What IF in the future she has a catastrophic injury to another leg? That is what the orthopedic surgeon I go to told me about these amputations...and it surely does make sense.
