| Bile Acid Test of Happy We had been to vet yesterday for Happys' blood test. We got results today, but results are not good. The Bile level is 37 and I think the normal bile level is 25. Our vet asked to keep him on low protein food and continue giving Denosyl. All these days he was (and is) on RC Hepatic which is having 14% protein. He is also on low protein treats (they have around 10% protein). And we were expecting his bile acids to go down. But on the contrary they hav gone up. Also we have another big concern - whether to neuter or not. Vet said that, it was recommended by lab (in which the blood tests were done) to get coagulation panel test done; in order to determine whehter blood would clot in required amount of time or not. According to them, it would be necessary to determine whether to neuter or not if blood does not clot within appropriate time. Please advice if anyone has experienced similar issues. |

| Did the cet repeat thw bile test afain a week apart? Its my understanding to get an acurate bile test two or three are done a week apart. As far as the spay do the preop nlood work which covera more than clotting and check the spay neuter sticky also ask about the anethias used and personally I dont leave mu dogs overnight. I find it ridiculous vets say they will want to monitor them over night when you then find out there is no staff at the office overnight, even so most cets do a spay neuter day and have several dogs staying, I prefer to monktor my furbaby myself and I also ensure the vet will be on call for an emergency. Hope that helps.

| I steam broccoli for my dog as a treat ... she loves it and it is the good protein. I also give her COCO Therapy Coconut Chips ... they are dried pieces of coconut. She loves them!! My little Cocoroni also has a liver shunt. I tried looking for dog treats for her but was unlucky. I see my vet next week again for another apointment so I am going to ask about other things too ... like bananas, apple, etc. I bought a Magic Bullet to make the pieces smaller. It works awesome!! |

| Treats.. We use Zukes Mini Salmon flavour - it has 12% protein and Mini Yum Zies - it has 8% protein. Other than this we use Honey nut cheerios. We started these since they have low protein. Happy is not liking his RC Hepatic food, any suggestions alternative food which can be fed to Happy?

| I believe Zukes is one of the better treats! Happy loves them. However, he is hating RC Hepatic. We are planning to switch him to Wellness Super5Mix Healthy Weight, Wellness Complete Health® Super5Mix® Healthy Weight Any suggestions?

| Vital is a low protein raw premade. With raw you have control over every ingredient. You need to do a lot of research before considering raw, model prey would not be a good fit for your dog and his needs. Raw is recomended for dogs especially with comprimised immune systems and organ functions. Check out the raw.org etc but remember your dog has special needs a feneral raw diet isnt for him model prey is definately out. Switching to raw is a longgggg process otherwise you can make your dog ill by switching too fast and from the bacterial level change. I beleive in raw and feed BARF but it is not as easy as feeding kibble it takes knowledge research constant observation and a keen sense of knowing what to look for.
