I was just looking up threads on PRA and ran across this. Yes, it needs to be checked asap. There are a few possibilities including corneal ulcer, cataracts, glaucoma, and PRA per the ophtha just conferred on Ellie's eyes.

I suspect night bindness in Ellie. Pretty much confirmed last night by trying to have her find kibble in the dark. Even some rhat I could see she coud not. She was relying on her nose. First thing that comes to my vet's mind is PRA, but we will rule some things out and see how it goes.

If it is PRA, the sooner the pup is put on an antioxidant supp, the more likely things won't quickly deteriorate.

What kind of antioxidant supplement is recommended for PRA? I know fish oil is good for eyes, as I read when Max had his ulcers, and I started the boys on a supplement recently.

My Presley has a hard time seeing in the dark as well. No problem coming up the stair onto the bed as long as its still daylight, but when it gets dark he just barks for me to pick him up or put him down on the floor to go potty at night. He is 16, so I expect his eyesight to start going downhill. We've had to adjust to his schedule at night which hasn't been easy, but he's my baby, and I'll do what I need to do for him. Luckily he is not having any issues during the day.

Honestly, nothing yet. I am having to keep a log of things she is doing. They think it is more of an anxiety issue. I am wondering if maybe Mikki is jumping her in the dark or something. I honestly don't know. I'm not convinced it is anxiety but I'll go through the process until they figure it out.

I always read this section of YT and check for up dates too. I seldom comment because there are better informed members about health issues. (you know training is my thing ) But, I saw this again and thought the Vet should have a definitive answer by now. Can your vet recommend, a vet that specializes with eyes ? Just a thought. Hugs

I'm not sure if there is one in my area. In his defense, I just was at the office about a week ago. I posted this earlier before I went. I will see what he says when we go back and I will ask about a specialist as well. Thanks for that suggestion.
