| Is she in pain? Destiny was just spayed early this week. They sent her home with pain meds and some meds for inflammation. She's been doing great, her incision is healing quickly. Tonight however, she is out of pain meds and is not eating or drinking. I got her to eat a little bit of chicken but nowhere near her normal amount. I forced some nutridrops and pedialyte down her so she isn't dehydrated. Her temp is normal, normal respiratory rates and normal potty habits. I've kept her from being active so she couldn't have hurt herself. I just don't know why she is acting this way. She doesn't seem like she is in pain, she is very active and alert and wants to run around and play but the pain medicine is the only change from tonight from the rest of the nights. The first day I brought her home I could tell she was in pain, she would whine and didn't want to move around, totally different from how she is acting right now. They gave her quite a bit of pain meds, I would think after several days she wouldn't be in pain. I will be taking her to the vet if things don't improve shortly but was wondering if anyone had any ideas why she is acting this way. I've never had one spayed or neutered before that acted this way.

| I doubt she is in pain from the spay. My guess is that the meds for inflammation may have upset her tummy. I would talk to the vet. I won't give mine anti-inflammatory meds because they upset their tummies and can cause ulcers.

| I agree. She probably doesn't feel well because of the anti-inflammatory meds. She may not even need them. Call the vet and ask if you can discontinue them. Good luck!

| This soon after a surgical procedure, I would want the vet to know what she is doing just in case she's got a pocket of pus in her abby or developed a PO infection, something related to the procedure, which is probably isn't but still he needs to know.

| My Bella was spayed this past Tuesday, the vet sent her home with pain meds...she is doing great I must admit. Why did your vet give med for inflammation? Is this normal as my Bella did not get meds for inflammation....and her incision is healing beautifully. Maybe its that medicine that is causing your baby an upset tummy. ) hope your baby will be well again soon!

| Just wanted to give a quick update. You all were right!! Once she was taken off the inflammation meds, her appetite picked up and she even started drinking on her own. I'm happy to say she is now completely healed and back to her normal spunky self!!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Great news! I think it's always good to have a good phone relationship with your vet and his staff. When you pay for a precedure you are also paying for any follow-up calls. Glad she's feeling better!
