I am...and a bit irritable. Between Sammy and Summer, I feel a bit fried. I am hoping things will calm down soon.

Linda I don't think any of us can even imagine. Prayers it all calms down and you, Summer, and Sammy can recover and get much needed rest!

I am just seeing this thread. I am so sorry that Summer is not well as well as Sammy. I will keep you all in my prayer and hope that you can get a good nites sleep so you can be a rested caregiver.

So depressed about Summer. She still has a very tense abdomen and today on exam she did show some pain when her spine was manipulated. The past two days, he did a thorough exam and this did not happen. Since she did not have any vomiting or diarrhea, back problems were a consideration from the beginning. But...with the lipase being elevated and with her xray looking unremarkable, it was thought it was probably pancreatitis. While she is eating a little bit now, she is still not herself. I just spoke with him and they are repeating her labs right now and then he will call me back.

I told him that if we suspect back issues and since nothing showed on the xray he did the other day, perhaps we need to take her to A&M. This is just too overwhelming for me this morning. I hate seeing her like this.

Hahaha...had a chuckle over that one. Going there again this soon will not be pretty no matter how pretty it is. Maybe I won't really have to go there...I might be overreacting a bit. She does not have any neurological deficits, so more than likely I am. I just don't like not knowing.

Well, her lipase is still elevated and he feels it is her tummy (it is down a bit from 4,000 to 3,000)...and maybe she also has tweaked her back. She plays hard in the mornings with Teddy and Armani and sometimes they jump on the sofa and to the floor while playing tug of war so it is possible she did aggravate something.

He did consult with my regular vet....he had started the case on her day off. So, Summer has the benefit of both of their opinions and knowledge.

So, we stick with the plan. They did also start her on Metacam.

No "pretty"" trip today thank goodness.

Thanks, Kristin. Indeed she has...I feel terrible leaving her there in the mornings. I so hate the life she has had...so unfair for one little darling pup. The only salvation is that they love her there...she is like their special pal and she does go willingly to them with her little tail wagging. There are a couple of the employees who are giving her some extra time and tlc.
