I'm just seeing this, I've had a couple busy days. You were so wise to get her in when her eating habits changed so...:animal-pa I hope she continues to come along well, my thoughts will be with you and little summer and I'll check on this thread more often. |
I'm praying for Summer. I know you love her. |
You can tell so much by looking at their eyes. I'm glad she's feeling a little better. I hope she isn't as restless tonight. You must be exhausted after the last week! |

I am just seeing this thread. I am so sorry that Summer is not well as well as Sammy. I will keep you all in my prayer and hope that you can get a good nites sleep so you can be a rested caregiver. |
I don't know how you do it, but thank you for taking care of these little ones. Hope you and Summer were both able to rest last night. Is she going back to the vet today? |
So depressed about Summer. :( She still has a very tense abdomen and today on exam she did show some pain when her spine was manipulated. The past two days, he did a thorough exam and this did not happen. Since she did not have any vomiting or diarrhea, back problems were a consideration from the beginning. But...with the lipase being elevated and with her xray looking unremarkable, it was thought it was probably pancreatitis. While she is eating a little bit now, she is still not herself. I just spoke with him and they are repeating her labs right now and then he will call me back. I told him that if we suspect back issues and since nothing showed on the xray he did the other day, perhaps we need to take her to A&M. :( This is just too overwhelming for me this morning. I hate seeing her like this. |
Oh no! I'm so sorry. Is the ride to A&M at least pretty? I hope you get some answers soon. |

oh im sorry you still dont have answers linda. i can only imagine how aggrevating it is. hope you hear some good news keeping my fingers crosses and i hope summer feels better soon. |
Well, her lipase is still elevated and he feels it is her tummy (it is down a bit from 4,000 to 3,000)...and maybe she also has tweaked her back. She plays hard in the mornings with Teddy and Armani and sometimes they jump on the sofa and to the floor while playing tug of war so it is possible she did aggravate something. He did consult with my regular vet....he had started the case on her day off. So, Summer has the benefit of both of their opinions and knowledge. So, we stick with the plan. They did also start her on Metacam. No "pretty"" trip today thank goodness. :D |
Sending prayers for Summer that this will be resolved soon. Poor baby has been through enough for one lifetime. :( |

I think at times like this, the only thing that can ease your mind is talking with other members of YT, we understand when these little ones are sick just how helpless one feels. It sounds like she is getting excellent care and you are so up on things. How old is she? I think you said earlier a pup. Prayers coming right now so I don't forget. |
Her estimated age is 2 - 3 years. :) She's a youngin' who has been through way too much in her short life. She had the horrific injuries when we got her...and had something happen previously as she is missing one ear and has a long scar down her neck. :( She weighed 5.5 pounds and was nothing but bones when she came to us. It was really horrible the shape she was in. The worst I have ever had to deal with. |
Oh My Goodness, so many great people here that help these little ones. Now that I am retired, I can't afford to take on a responsibility like that. I can't stand to see them in pain so even if I had the money, I don't know if I could handle it.:lovewings |
You sound as relieved not to have to make that drive as I would have been.:D Hoping Summer has a good night and you, too.:) |
Just checking in to see how Summer (and you) made it through the night. |
Morning check in, hoping to hear that Summer is feeling better today and her Momma got some rest. |
Hope you both had a good night. |
Summer is improving. She went outside this morning with all of us and did go to the fence line with her pals when the little squirrel came by to stir things up. She did not bark and run as usual, but just that she went out and showed some interest is a good sign. Her tail is up a lot more...she still tucks it some, but not as much. They said yesterday that they feel she will be better now at home and she is on Cerenia and Metronidazole....and Bupranex prn for pain. |
So nice to hear this early morning:) Little steps Summer and you will be fine.:aimeeyork |
That's definitely a good sign. I hope little Summer is indeed on the mend.:) |
Good to hear that Summer is showing some signs of feeling better. :) |
