I'm sorry to read Summer is sick. I think stress can and does cause pancreatitis. I hope she will soon be better. She must look so pitiful walking around hunched up with her tail tucked!

She does...makes me so sad to see her like that. I am going to give her another dose of Bupranex before bedtime. Hopefully she can rest tonight. Poor little angel.

I wonder if there is a change in the water supply in your area that some dogs might be sensitive to? Once a year or so here, they super-chlorinate the water to clean out the pipes for a few days. Thank God they give us advanced notice in the previous month's bill because I wouldn't want my pups drinking it, it smells worse than my pool water:p Just a thought.

Summer ate a little bit this morning, but she is clearly not feeling well. She also had a very restless night. :( I am hopeful things might change a bit after another day of fluids...she is at the vet now.

Thanks...I am really concerned about her. She really does not feel well, but I don't think it is anything else. Pretty classic symptoms.

That description is one I hate to read about as I know that look in a Yorkie & you just hate to see that. You feel so helpless as a human when you see your dog miserable after they have seen the vet & you have administered all the meds & so on that you can & still they are having a bad time. So sorry she is going through this but glad you are on top of it. Hopefully this is just an episode & she will climb out of it very soon. She's in good hands.

I hope she will be feeling better soon. I'm sure pancreatitis isn't something that has a quick recovery time.

Poor Summer. I hope she feels better soon. I agree any of my dogs misses a meal its off to the vet.

Well, Summer does look a TINY bit better. Eyes are a bit brighter. She is still guarding and her belly is still tense, but she is wagging her tail some. She ate a small amount of food for them this afternoon. She goes back tomorrow morning for IVs and they will check her lab values at the end of the day.

Last time Peek a Boo had Pancreatitis, he was on IV fluids only and nothing by mouth for 3-4 days.

Prayers still continue for Miss Summer to start feeling better.

It all comes down to how bad it is and whether they are vomiting or not. She was not vomiting....but clearly has pain and it is being treated as pancreatitis. The vet thinks we just caught it really early....I had another this past year with the same thing. As soon as they do not eat, I take them in. Of course, there are times when they just suddenly become ill and start vomiting and having diarrhea. But, I have never seen one be NPO for that many days...they normally start food slowly after 24 hours in my experience. There again, all depends on the pup and what can be tolerate.

I hope Summer is feeling better. She has been through so much. I'm glad she has you to watch over her and recognize when she needs medical care. I'm with you, when they don't eat, something is wrong. If something is wrong, I want to catch it early if I can. I'll be keeping you and Summer in my prayers and hoping she is up and about soon.

:thumbup::thumbup: The first time Barney had pancreatitis, it came on fast and furious and he was hospitalized for 4 days. The first two days were NPO and then slowly food was added back. The second time he had it, it was the same situation as Summer. My vet gave sub-cutaneous fluids (it was a saturday so they were not there for IV otherwise IV would have been used) and he was NPO for the first day. We then moved up to small amounts of bland food over the next day and then progressed to full meals slowly. My vet told me at the time that small amounts of food can be used if the situation is mild and early. I think Summer's case sounds so much like how Barney presents - hunched and painful and not eating.

I'm glad she is a little better today.
