Default Binky Sick - needs help Please!

He's been vomiting for 3 days now and we're going into day 4. They did blood test and except for his sugar starting to decline and his electro lights off due to no food they're fine. They also did xrays for a blockage and that came up ok. But he's still vomiting and they also given him nausea medication that has done no good. He will drink a little water but only sips. He just stares at me like Mama help me and I don't know what to do to help him.
I am a senior citizen and disabled I don't have much money. I bought pet insurance hoping I wouldn't never get put in the position of losing my baby because I couldn't pay. I have already used my rent money and everything I have and they still haven't helped him. Something tell's me he's dying and I don't know what to do. Has anyone had this problem before? I'm all alone Binky is my whole life, I have no family. I got him in January as a companion because I was so depressed and he's has been a blessing, I can't lose him, he's my reason to live. I had no purpose here until him. Help me figure out what's wrong!! He's had all his shots so it's not parvo.

I'm so sorry Binky is sick. Sending prayers your vet will be able to find out what's wrong and be able to help him.
How old is he? What other tests have they done or what are they suggesting to try to determine what is going on with him?

Binky will be 8 months the 10th. and he weighs 4.5 lbs he can't stand to lose much more weight, he's lost 1/2 a pound. They haven't suggested anymore tests. They want me to put karo on his gums 4 times a day. When he's gone 12 without vomiting they gave me a special critical care dog food for him to eat. It's easily digestible, replaces eletros and can be feed with a syringe..that's it. Then we wait and see what happens. They are going to call me this morning to see how he is doing - he's still the same no improvement.

Did they also check for pancreatitis? I would suggest a specialist if they cannot identify the cause. I'm very sorry your little one is sick. It's so hard to see them go through something like this. It makes you feel so helpless.

Unfortunately I can't afford a speciallist until I get my reimbursement from the insurance company and that's going to be a week so my only hope is my vet at this point. I almost didn't get Binky because I didn't think it was fare to take him if I couldn't afford to give him adequate care. Buy I wanted him so bad and I thought if I get pet insurance at least I can use my bill money if I need to and then will be reimbursed later. They haven't said anything about pancreatitis. I had a Lasa years ago that had attacks of this but he was always in pain, Binky doesn't act like he's in pain, he's just sick to his stomach. I don't dare pick him up because any pressure on his little belly makes him vomit.

Well, usually pancreatitis attacks are also accompanied by diarrhea, so I doubt that is what your little one has. He may just have a very sensitive tummy and may need food for sensitive tummies. I wish I could help you more, but I've never had to deal with this. I hope someone can give you more info as the day progresses.

He's on a special food especially formulated for Yorkie's and he hasn't had any problems with it. This all started when he possibly ate something off the floor upstairs where I rented a room to a young man who I found out later was on drugs and smoked pot. I don't know there could have been left over pot in the carpet upstairs, I did vacuum the room but maybe I missed something. The other possibility is I gave him to many of this one treat I have. It's apple and peanut butter made by Del Monte. I didn't realize it was a snausage and I am really careful about the fat because of his stomach - apparently not careful enough and now he's paying for it - I don't know. Thank God he doesn't have diarrhea, he will sip water and he's not in pain. But it's just killing me looking at his little face because I can tell he feels so bad.

It concerns me that you say you think he is dying. I don't want to come off harsh here, but you owe it to this pup to make sure he gets proper care. Perhaps you can speak with the vet about waiting for insurance reimbursement....perhaps you can apply for Care Credit...or do you have friends or family that can help?

You need to think all of your options...and if all else fails, please turn him over to someone who can help him. Either ask a vet if they can take him...or a rescue. I believe that United Yorkie Rescue has MI foster homes. United Yorkie Rescue - A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Yorkshire Terrier Rescue Organization is their website.

Yes I've done all of that and I have no family or friends that can help. I have a list of organizations the will help with vet bills I am trying them and I have already talked to the vet about taking him if it comes to that. Thanks for your input.

Since you have insurance, surely your vet could help until you are reimbursed? The organizations that help usually take time and it is very hard to get funding from them. Time is not something you have here.
Have you looked at Care Credit?

I would have to agree that since you have insurance, surely your vet could help until you are reimbursed? If not, then perhaps you can call around and explain the situation and find one that will. I'm so sorry you are going through this..... Keeping your furbaby in my prayers.... and hoping for a recovery.

I was denied. My vet won't I am checking with my daughters and no she can't help - I don't even want to go into that. My vet doesn't seam to be alarmed about his condition at this point. She says at least he's drinking and doesn't have diarrhea and he's not in pain. She said if he takes a turn for the worst then we'll look at rescue orgs. She said I should still contact these companies as long as he is stable - not well just not getting worse.

I am confused....you think he is dying and the vet says he is ok.

As for those organizations...I honestly don't know anyone who has gotten money from one...and certainly without a diagnosis you probably will not be successful. I think you need to focus on what you are going to do yourself....both now and in the future. Dogs are expensive to maintain...and yorkies are well known for having lots of very high vet expenses.

I assume you are giving him the Nutrical and keeping an eye on his hydration. Be sure to check his gums frequently to be sure they are moist. If they become dry and sticky to touch, he is probably getting dehydrated.

What food is he eating? Is it possibly one that is included in a recall?

Apparently your not ready my post, I said he is taking fluids and he's been hydrated by the vet, he's NOT dehydrated, I'm watching the very closely and I know about the expenses that's one reason I got insurance. Your not helping so just go post somewhere else because I don't need this. I am checking my options and monitoring Binky 24/7, I haven't slept more the 5 hours in 4 days. I WILL do what ever I need to for him even if that means giving him up.
