| Puppy Shaking After Shots Hi Everyone, I am new to YT and wanted to say hi. Also had a question. Took my baby to get his last set of vaccines today. (he is 15 weeks tomorrow). It has been a couple of hours since the vaccines. He was fine when we first got home but for the past 30 minutes or so he has been shaking on and off a little. I am probably over reacting but I love him so much that I can't see him uncomfortable. I know that there is some discomfort after the shots but this is the first time that he is experiencing any. He is sleep as I am typing this and seems like he is not shaking anymore. At what point should I get worried? Vida and Mighty |

| I'd just call the vet & ask what to do.

| I would be very concerned and call the dr. Did he just get his last set of shots or get rabies in addition?

| Another question. Did he get lepto, too? Lots of puppies have a reaction to that one.

| thanks for all the responses. He got his rabies shot with the last set of shots that he got. He is doing a lot better now. I don't know if he was just scared from going to the vet or if it was a reaction to the shot. He took a nap, woke up and is doing a lot better and no more shaking. The vet informed me that he might sleep more than usual in the next 24 hours. He also ate and drank water too which is a good thing. I am going to keep a close eye on him for tonight so that if there is a change I can take him to the emergency vet but from the looks of it he is fine. In fact he is walking around and playing right now thanks again for the quick responses and I am very glad that I found this site. There is a lot of helpful information and nice people here |

| Hi & Welcome to YT ! In the future don't let the vet give the Rabies on the same day as the other vaccinations as it is just too much on the little dogs & infact my vet will not even give my WolfHound a Rabies with other vaccinations. Glad he's feeling better. |

| Glad your baby is okay Correct me if I'm wrong (it's been a few years since mine were puppies) but don't they usually wait until a pup is 6 months old for rabies shot? I don't let my vet give the combo vaccines, I believe it's too much on them at once. Love your baby's name, by the way, cute Would love to see pics

| I don't get the lepto vaccine. Mine has never had it, but I also realize certain areas of the country do have the concern for lepto more than others. I don't know about your area. That is something you should research. The above poster is correct that rabies shouldn't be given until they are six months of age. Also, when mine gets her shots, she gets her regular shots (minus lepto) and then a couple of weeks or a month later we get her rabies. I wouldn't allow the vet to give the rabies at the same time as the other shots. It is just too much for these little doggies. I don't know, if in your case, it was the combo of the shots with the lepto or the rabies or both, but IMO it is just too much at once for them and they usually have a reaction when so much is given at one time. It has been fatal for some, so I would urge you to do your research and know what you are giving your little one and when.

| Thanks so much for all the great information. The last set of shots that he got didn't seem to bother him as much as this time but now I am thinking maybe I should find him another vet. I did a lot of research and read a lot of review about the clinic that I take him to and the vet that seem him but maybe I have not done enough research. I think that she should have informed me before giving him the combo. When he got his rabies shot he was 12 weeks old!!!!!! He also got other shots that same day. I am very thankful that he handles it ok but what if he didn't!!! Poor baby was screaming when they were giving him the shots. does anybody know about a good vet for my baby in the Dallas area or which forum should I ask about a recommendation. I just dint want to go back to this vet. Also he started losing a lot of hair and when I asked the vet about it she tested his skin (took a piece from his back) and the test came back negative. She told me that it will grow back and sent me home with a pack of dermoscent essential 6. Now I don't trust anything she does. Does anyone know about this? (sorry for the very long post but I am new to yorkies and very concerned, just want to make sure mighty is taken care of in the best possible way) |
